These businesses included Cohen’s Hardware Company (1928), Pritchett & Sons Gun Emporium (1960), Hansen’s Gun Shop (1964), Goldsmith & Silverman Shooting Supplies (1968), Smith’s Sporting Goods (1970) and McLaughlan’s Firearms Supply Inc.(1974). over time these businesses relocated their operations out of city limits into other municipalities such as Chattanooga or Anderson County because they were not able to comply with MPD regulations while located within city limits

It is part of the Knoxville Metropolitan Statistical Area. The land that would become Morristown was first settled by Scots-Irish immigrants in 1799. In 1802, General James K. Polk sent an army through Blount County to quash a slave rebellion in nearby Chattanooga and new settlers were attracted to the area because of its fertile soil and access to water resources. By 1819, the town had been named for General John Morrell, who fought in the War of 1812 and later served as governor of Tennessee. The first school was opened in 1827, and by 1830 there were four schools with a total enrollment of 150 students. In 1836, Morriston became one of five townships within Knoxville Township when it was formed from parts of two other townships – Hickory Township and Spring Hill Township – under state legislator David Hogg’s proposed township system. The early 20th century saw great growth for Morristown thanks to timber production along the Knoxville River which led to increased construction activity throughout the area including several large mills such as Wacoal (1898), Norcross & Sons (1910), Memphis Steel (1921), Southern Coal Supply Co.(1925) and American Can Works (1930). This growth also lead to an increase in employment opportunities for locals with many people gaining careers outside their homes due to this newfound prosperity. The milltown atmosphere continued until World War II when much industry shifted away from eastern Tennessee into western Pennsylvania due to wartime demand for steel goods imported from Japan and Europe. Although WWII did affectmorriston indirectly as many jobs were lost within key industries such as transportation and engineering but overall this period saw little change or declines in economic activity compared to earlier decades After World War II ended, local businesses slowly started winding down while some larger companies like Wacoal closed shop while others like American Can Works experienced modest success over time until they too went out OF business around 2000 according after years of consistent decline However even thoughmorristown has seen its share of ups and downs during its history there has always been something special about this small town that makes it continue doing well today despite difficult times
