Morristown is a small town in Sevier County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,792 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Memphis metropolitan area. The first settler in Morristown was John Couch who arrived in 1795. In 1827, James Aiken founded the Morristown Academy which remains a prominent educational institution today. The townspeople started to build a school and post office in 1828 and 1830 respectively. In 1861, Confederate General Braxton Bragg moved his army from Chattanooga to invade Tennessee and drive Union forces out of the state. On November 12th, 1861 (the day before Thanksgiving), General Bragg's army reached Morristown and began their march southward towards Knoxville. On December 9th, 1861 (Christmas Day), General Bragg's army reached Morristown and destroyed all of its lights as an act of defiance against the Union government
Morristown is a small town in Williamson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,463 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chattanooga–Murfreesboro–Brenton metropolitan area. Morristown is known for its historic architecture and for its annual Peach Festival which takes place in late August. The town was founded by Methodists on a farmstead that still stands in the center of town. In 1811, the first courthouse in Williamson County was built and it served as the seat of government until Morristown's incorporation as a city in 1907. The first mayor of Morristown was John Kneeland who served from 1812 to 1814. One of Morristown's most famous residents was Andrew Johnson who served as Ulysses S. Grant's Vice President from 1861 to 1865 and again from 1867 to 1869. In 1916, General Motors Corporation moved their plant from Mobile, Alabama to become one of the largest employers in town with over 1,000 employees at their new facility which remains operational today as GMC Town Center. The peach festival has been held here annually since 1951 and has become one of the most popular events in town with over 100,000 visitors each year!

Morristown was founded in 1793 by General James Robertson, and was the first town in Tennessee. The town was named after the Morristown Gap in Cumberland County, Maryland. The first store opened in 1814, and the first school was built in 1816. In 1850, Morristown became a county seat of Hardin County. In 1865, it became a city. In 1951, it merged with Knoxville to form the United States City of Knoxville. Morristown is now part of the Chattanooga metropolitan area. The history of Morristown begins with its founding as a small community on the banks of the Tennessee River near what is now downtown Knoxville. At its peak during the early 1800s, Morristown had about 1,000 residents and numerous businesses including stores, inns and hotels. By 1830, however, population had decreased to just 100 because of epidemics caused by smallpox and other diseases brought over from Kentucky by pioneer settlers. In 1814 General James Robertson founded what would become known as Morristown on land granted him by King George III on his birthday that he had purchased from an ejection group composed chiefly of Scotsmen who had settled in eastern Tennessee during the eighteenth century boom period following British acquisition of America at Yorktown (1781). On July 16th that year he erected a log cabin where he lived until his death four years later at age 50 from wounds received while suppressing Shawnee Indians duringthe Cherokee War (1815-1817). Morristown is a town in Anderson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,851 at the 2000 census. It was founded in 1837 by General John C. Breckinridge and his wife, Rachelle Bledsoe. Morristown became part of the Union army during the American Civil War and was burned by Confederate soldiers on July 4, 1865.
