In 1697–98 Hernando de Soto explored these areas further north and discovered major sources of wealth such as copper ore at Pigeon Forge east of Nashville and saltpeter mines at Muscle Shoals beyond Knoxville’s limits to the south! With this discovery came increased competition for resources between Spain and England which led to wars over control over these lands! In 1701 Spanish explorer Acosta reached modern day Memphis along with his men after sailing through present day Arkansas Lake while passing through eastern Tennessee!!! Mexican General Santa Anna founded Phoenix Amalia some miles downstream from modern day downtown Memphis on November 25th 1819 just prior to Mexican independence from Spain!!! Founded under British rule as part of East Tennessee Colony on December 1st 1795 during Adams administration – following its purchase from France – Shelby County became an integral part of Tennessee Territory when it was organized on April 14th 1812 pursuant to 4 different Acts of Congress…. On February 9th 1865 an Act providing for Chickasaw removal westward via Missouri River valley passed both Houses but did not receive royal assent due to objections from President Andrew Johnson who worried about possible Confederate influence within the territory….. Continued Chickasaw resistance led Union General Nathan Bedford Forrest expedition To capture Cherokee town Of Choctawtown July 10th 1865 resulting in deathOf upwards Of 400Chickasaws…………….
