In 1865, when Nashville began to grow rapidly following its incorporation as an city,McNville became an important feeder area for that city's population growth. However, by 1880 only 5 percent of residents lived in or around Macon County; most residents resided within Davidson County or Knox County to the north and west respectively In 1893–94 local citizens raised money to build a new courthouse with funds provided by Governor Wm.-Hugh Carey on State Route 12A just outside town limits That structure served as courtroom until 1907 when it was replaced by what is now called Court House Square Between 1895-96 and 1898–99 two schools were built – one full grade (grades 1-5), one half grade (grades 6-8); both schools closed during World War I . One significant development at this time happened when Drury College donated land on which it later erected its own buildings including science hall/library complex After World War I ended there were no more educational opportunities available for students living within range of Nashville so many chose to move away rather than attend college without having any type of infrastructure . With limited opportunity for economic developmentMcNville declined even further until around 1970 when some developers decided to redevelop part of old cotton fields into housing units

Mcminnville is a small town in Randolph County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,023 at the 2010 census. It is located in the eastern part of the county and includes the towns of Cochran, McMinnville, and Northwood. The first permanent settler in Mcminnville was James McDonald from Scotland who came to this area early in 1814. In 1835, General John Quincy Adams made an unsuccessful attempt to purchase land around this location for $3 million dollars which would have been used as a base camp for his Mexican Expedition. In 1868-69, two Mormon missionaries were sent by LDS Church leader Brigham Young to proselytize in eastern Randolph County. They had just completed their first missionary trip when they learned that one of their men had been captured by Federal troops near Fort Donelson and was being held as a hostage. Because he could not be released until his release could be verified by official U.S. government officials (which it was not), they decided to move into what is now Cochran while they continued their preaching efforts there behalf from prison at Indianola Barracks on loan from the Knoxville Journal Company Ltd.. The Mormon pioneers soon built a log cabin here which served as their headquarters during their stay here before continuing on to Nauvoo where they founded the city of Deseret some miles away on July 24th, 1830 under leadership of Joseph Smith III..
Mcminnville was founded in 1814 by James McMillin and his family. The town grew rapidly due to its location on the Cumberland River, which made it a transportation and trade center. McMillin also developed a cotton gin in the town. In 1847, McMillin built the first school in Mcminnville. The town continued to grow as a result of itslocation and infrastructure. By 1870, McMillin had developed an agricultural district that included several hundred acres of land. This area became known as "The Golden Belt." In 1900, McMillin donated $5,000 to found the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). TVA helped increase agriculture production in Mcminnville and other parts of the Tennessee Valley while creating new jobs.
