Mcminnville is located in the Middle Tennessee Valley, about thirty miles northeast of Nashville. The population was 7,542 at the 2010 census. It is a small town with a single store and a few hundred residents. The area around Mcminnville has been inhabited for centuries by Shawnee, Cherokee, and other Native American tribes. The first Europeans to visit Mcminnville were Scottish traders in the early 1800s. They named the area "Minniville" after one of their leaders, John McNaught. In 1819, General Andrew Jackson passed through this region on his way to battle Fort Donelson in Arkansas. One of Jackson's aides called this area "Minniville Township", likely because it had been given to him by General McNaught. The town was founded in 1825 by Methodist missionaries under the leadership of Rev. David Mclntyre and Dr. James Caldwell Sr.. At its peak, Mcminnville had a population of 1,200 people and was considered one of the most important religious settlements in western Tennessee. However, within twenty years or so the community had disappeared due to heavy labor competition from surrounding towns and plantations that began growing up around Nashville during this time period. In 1870–71, McClintyre organized an unsuccessful attempt to break away from Nashville and form a new town near present-day Murfreesboro (then part of Davidson County). This effort failed when local farmers Boyce and Fenton refused to pay McClintyre's fee for land he did not own; they instead formed their own town called Prentiss which became an important center for cotton production during Reconstruction era America (1865-1877). Mcminnville experienced another boom period during World War II when many soldiers came here looking for work on farms or as mechanics on warplanes manufacture plants outside Nashville while also serving in combat zones overseas such as Europe or Pacific Theater (1941-1945). After the war ended however, industry largely stopped operations excepting some light manufacturing activities done at nearby Chattanooga until 1980 when McMillinvilte went into bankruptcy because it could no longer compete with better paid jobs outside its small town boundaries caused by advances in technology such as Automobiles etcetera etcetera . . . The closure led to many homeless individuals living along side abandoned factories/laboratories where there was little clean water available or any hope for getting back on their feet without government assistance even if those opportunities ever materialized again

During Reconstruction following America's Civil War (1865-1877), much of Sevier County was acquired by New York State as part of the Compromise of 1867 which ended slavery in America. On January 6, 1870, McClernand's Landing was burned by Confederate forces during an advance northward along Route 66 from Chattanooga towards Knoxville. In 1881, John Denny opened a store in Mcminnville that became one of the most successful businesses in town. Denny's Enterprise continued to grow until it merged with Peabody Coal Company in 1907. After World War II, many residents left Mcminnville for various reasons, but its economy has slowly grown again since then.
