Gun sights were first developed in the early 1800s for use with muskets. At that time, there was no way to tell where a rifle's muzzle was located relative to the rest of the gun. A Sight (or Eye) device was invented in 1802 which used a sighting mark on the barrel and could be adjusted so that it would point at any target within a certain distance. This allowed soldiers and sailors to aim their rifles accurately without having to eye-ball the weapon. During World War II, snipers used sights instead of optics to aim their rifles accurately. Gun sights became more widely available during this time and many different types have been designed over the years. Today, most guns are equipped with some form of sight system including both open-backed and reflex sights.

Windage/elevationights come in both standard adjustable and nonstandard designs. Standard adjustable windage/elevation sights have knobs that you can move left and right to adjust your shooting position relative to your target; nonstandard variable windage/elevationights have bars that you must move yourself instead of using knobs. Reflex Sight System: reflex sight systems use mirrors mounted above either eyes so that when you focus on your target with one eye and look down onto what looks like a crosshair on top of your scope (or inside another object if using an ironclad reflex), you will then be able to shoot accurately without having any idea where your bullet goes! Reflex sighting systems can also be combined with imaging optics such as digital cameras for added precision!
In 1859, the first gun sights in Mcminnville were erected. These sights consisted of a white circle on a black field and resembled modern firearms sights. The first guns to be fired from this location used rifle barrels with no sight marks on them.
Mcminnville is a small town in Pike County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,836 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Memphis metropolitan area. From 1851 to 1875, Mcminnville was known as "Minniville". In 1876, it became "Mcminnville" after its founder Major John Mcminn (1796-1872), who had been born in Scotland and emigrated to America in 1825. In 1902, the post office moved from Nashville to Mcminnville and remains there today. The community's namesake John Mc Minn (1821-1902) was a Confederate general during the American Civil War and later served as mayor of Memphis. He donated land for what is now the University of Memphis campus. In 1908 local entrepreneur Julius Biddle built one of only two water towers in Tennessee—the other being located in Clarksdale—designed for use by farmers irrigating their crops with skyrocketing prices for water during the early 20th century boom times that followed World War I. By 1915 Biddle had closed his business operations and relocated his family to Iowa City where he continued farming until his death in 1938; but his tower still stands as a reminders of what could have been had this ancient water source not dried up during the Depression years.. A few years ago I visited this once thriving community that has now dwindled down into little more than an isolated farmstead surrounded by high cotton fields since most all manufacturing stopped long ago leaving these parts devoid of any kind of economic stimulus or development over many decades." -Drummond Peele

The two brothers started a small cotton plantation and soon became known for their production of quality goods. In the early 1800s, slavery was an important part of Tennessee society and the Mcminnvilles were among the first white people to be enslaved. John H.Mcminnville died in 1852 but his legacy lives on in his son, James H.Mcminnville Jr., who currently owns the original cotton plantation where he grew up. The town of Mcminnville was founded by John H.'s sons in 1847 following the survey of land that their father had purchased from Colonel Alexander McNeely. The town rapidly grew as a result of its location within easy commuting distance for residents in rural areas such as Knox County and Chattanooga. It also enjoyed some success as a commercial center due to its river portage connection and good transportation connections to larger cities like Knoxville and Chattanooga.(1) Although it began as humble beginnings, Mcminnville quickly established itself as one of the most significant towns in Tennessee during the 19th century. Mcminnville was founded in 1825 by John D. Rockefeller and his brother, Frederick. The town prospered thanks to its location on the Cumberland River and its access to resources such as coal, oil, lumber, and slaves. In the 1870s, Mcminnville became an important railroad center due to its location at the junction of several lines serving Nashville and Memphis. By the late 1800s, however, Mcminnville's economic fortunes began to decline as a result of changes in transportation methods and industry.
