Mcminnville is a town in Davidson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 9,827 at the 2010 census. It is the larger of the two towns in Davidson County and it contains most of the municipal buildings for both. The other town is Nashville.
Mcminnville is a small town in Williamson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,852 at the 2010 census. The community is located on the Cumberland River and is named after General Andrew Jackson's brother-in-law, Major John McLean. The town was platted in 1811 by Major John McLean and James Caldwell as part of a land grant to Colonel David Baird. The first post office was established in 1812, and the name of the town changed twice – once to Big Creek Settlement (1816), then to Valentine (1820). In 1829,imentation began at what is now Mcminnville when George Washington Polk set up a shop there. A school was built in 1830 and continued operation until it closed in 1902. The first store building on Main Street still stands today, dating back to 1832. After years of being used for various purposes such as an agricultural store, a blacksmiths shop, a livery stable and finally as an arena for local sports teams,[2] the current millinery store building became home to McLaughlin's Department Store from 1907 until it closed its doors in 1984. It currently houses several businesses including McDowell Farms Market which specializes in organic produce;[3] The Midtown Distillery which produces bourbon;[4] and Bearden's BBQ restaurant which serves traditionalTennessee barbecue dishes such as chicken fiesta and buffalo chicken dip.[5] A number of other landmarks also exist within Mcminnville including: Happy Valley Baptist Church (established 1865), McNairy State Park (established 1912), Old Hickory Cemetery (established 1870) and Henderson Mill Complex (completed 1916).[6]

Mcminnville, Tennessee is a small town in Sevier County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chattanooga metropolitan area. Mcminnville was founded by General James H. Dillon on October 5, 1810 as a trading post on the banks of the Ohio River. Mcminnville was originally named for John Aiken McDowell, an American Revolutionary War general and signer of the Declaration of Independence who had been living in what is now Chattanooga at that time. In 1811, Dillon's grandson and namesake, James H. Dillon III (1802-1872), opened a store here and began to rename his community after himself: Mcminnville (or "Maiden's Glen"). The first school in Mcminnville was built here in 1813; it remains one of the oldest schools in Chattanooga. The town name changed again to Mabinogi Township in 1902 when it became apparent that there were more than one township with this name throughout Sevier County. The post office at Mabinogi Township served Mcminnville until 1907; however, mail continued to be delivered through nearby Decatur until 1911 because there was no Post Office Building located within Mcminnville itself at that time. In 1915-16 local citizens constructed a two-story frame building near present day Third Avenue North which functioned as the first Post Office Department Store Troop Headquarters during World War I when troops were stationed here for training purposes only before deployment overseas into battle theaters such as Europe or Asia where they took part in combat operations against Imperial Japan or Germany respectively On December 6th 1916 local citizens erected a two story white frame building west of Main Street which served as Schoolhouse No 2 from 1918 until 1953 when it burned down; this building still stands today and functions as part of First Baptist Church which also owns it . From 1942 until 1945 local residents built additional housing units adjacent to their original structures known locally as "Bunker Hill" due to its strategic location overlooking Second Avenue South about halfway between downtown Chattanooga and tank farms placed around central Sevier County for military use during World War II . After World War II ended local residents gradually sold off their remaining housing units over time with some remaining extant up until 1957 when they completely disappeared from view following fire damage caused by heavy rainstorms which struck several areas around town including Bunker Hill during that year’s Christmas season
The town of Mcminnville was founded in 1811 by a group of Scots-Irish immigrants. The town became a stop on the Underground Railroad, and many slaves were brought to Tennessee from nearby plantations. In 1865, the town was destroyed by fire, and its residents were forced to relocate.
