Mcminnville is a small city located in Davidson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 7,099 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Nashville–Davidson, TN Metropolitan Statistical Area. Mcminnville is home to the Norwood Community Schools District and theNorwood Volunteer Fire Department. The town was founded by James McDonnell in 1836 as a trading post on the Cumberland River. When it became a county seat in 1840, McDonnell renamed it Mcminnville after his friend and business associate Andrew McNairy (1785-1864). In 1863, John Crouch bought land in what is now Mcminnville from Andrew McNairy and founded Croughton & Company cotton gins and other businesses. By 1870, there were 10 villages in Davidson County including Mcminnville with a population of over 100 people. In 1892, David Folsom donated land to build what would become Norwood Community Schools District #1 which included all of present-day Mcminnville except for one block north of I-24. The school district opened its doors to students on September 1, 1954. At that time, it was one of just five public schools serving Davidson County with an enrollment of over 2200 students grades K-12th inclusive; each day’s classes held outdoors on a large grassy field until 1957 when air conditioning became available for all buildings! Today Norwood continues to serve as our country’s top secondary educational institution providing world class education for both academic and athletic programs for its student body who include more than 30% foreign citizens!

Mcminnville is a town in Hardin County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Memphis metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1853 by Scots-Irish immigrants who named it after Andrew McNaughtry, an early settler. The first school in Mcminnville was built on the current site of the old courthouse in 1854. A post office called McNaughtry was established in 1855, and remained in operation until 1865. The name change came about due to fears that another Scottish-Irish community would be established nearby with the same name and share resources with Mcminnville. In 1857, James Withers donated land to the town for a public square and two stores. The first store had six planks of wood cost $2 each to build and opened on December 2, 1857. At that time, only three other small communities were located within hardin county: Bellaire (now Donelson), Whitehaven (now Frasier), and Prentiss (now West Memphis). By 1860, there were over 20 settlements operating within hardin county alone! In 1861, Andrew McNaughtry donated land to the town for a schoolhouse and one mile of road leading into it. That same year also saw out first crop rotation in Hardin County; corn was grown on four acres per family while wheaton two acres per family! In 1863 local doctor John Epps organized a medical team which treated soldiers during the American Civil War at Fort Donelson near modern day Nashville. Dr Epps went from house to house throughout Hardin County healing any sick or wounded soldiers ++ This event helped drive many Scots-Irish immigrants towards Tennessee as physicians instead of returning home – thus helping contribute to Hardin Counties’ rapid growth during this period! A post office called Everette was established in 1865 by Samuel Hetherington & John Denton after they married that year. soon after their wedding Hetherington set up shop here too !! In 1870 McClure Brothers company started producing oil lamps using gaslight technology from France ++ These lamps became very popular & continue being produced today
The village of Mcminnville was founded in 1807 by John and Sally McDowell. The first white settlers were James McDonald, his wife Fannie and their three children. In 1810, the McDowells sold the land to David Ladd for $500. By 1830, there were just a few families living in Mcminnville. In 1861, when Tennessee seceded from the United States, most of what is nowMcminnville was part of Davidson County. However, within a year or so, most of the McGinnvilles had moved away and taken their land with them. By 1865, only a few people remained in Mcminnville – mostly farmers and loggers who built homes on sections of the McCowan River that still stand today. Throughout its history, Mcminnville has been home to many different types of people: slaves and free blacks; Scots-Irish immigrants; German Americans; Appalachian Republicans; Methodists; Baptists; Congregationalists; Latter-day Saints (Mormons); as well as several dozen small businesses and 150 residents. It has also been known for its farming crops such as corn, cotton, peas and beans, potatoes, applesauce and whiskey.
