In 1811, a group of men and women in the town of Maryville founded a Presbyterian church. The first pastor was Rev. Daniel McGowan, who served for over 20 years. In 1827, the church moved to what is now known as its current location on Market Street. Reverend John Sutherlin took charge of the church in 1847 and led it until his death in 1862. In 1889, the church building was purchased by Mr. J.C. Maynard and alterations were made to it which resulted in its use as a school from 1896-1999. It was then sold to the County government in 2001 and became an all-purpose facility known as Maryville Municipal Courts Annexe before being renovated for use as office space in 2018-present
