In 1868, a group of men from Martin, Tennessee founded the Knoxville Rifle and Pistol Club. The club's first meeting was on October 15th. The club began to meet monthly and soon had a Doubly-Barrel Rifle. In 1875, the club acquired its first shotgun, the Model 1876. The club continued to grow in popularity and in 1886 purchased their first rifle - a Lee-Enfield rifles. In 1915, the Knoxville Rifle and Pistol Club merged with the Chattanooga Rifle and Pistol Club to become the Chattanooga Rifle & Pistol Club (CRPC). Today, CRPC is one of the largest gun clubs in Tennessee with over 2200 members across all age ranges and interests. The CRPC offers competitive rifle matches as well as educational programs for its memberships.
