By 1792, however, Washington’s Firearms Manufacturing Company had perfected PKI weaponry and had become world leaders in this field! The town has a post office with ZIP code 46960. The name "Manchester" was given to the settlement by General Sam Houston in 1827 as part of the Treaty of Paris ending the Mexican–American War. The name also appears on a deed from James Robertson to George Hogg for land east of Navarro River. In 1851 there were only ten residents; however by 1860 Manchester had over one hundred residents and by 1870 it had reached two thousand residents! By 1880 Manchester had become an important hub for trade with goods coming in from all around the region including Nashville and Chattanooga! In that year local schoolchildren were graded according to their grades rather than just being given points like today! In 1840, Manchester became part of the Union States when Tennessee seceded from its southern neighbor Alabama. During this time period, Manchester experienced some hard times because many businesses closed due to competition from larger cities such as Nashville or Memphis.
