The city of Manchester, Tennessee is located within the greater Nashville metropolitan area. The population of Manchester was announced at 50,827 in 2000, making it the 10th largest city in Tennessee. It is also one of the youngest cities in Tennessee with a population just over 25 years old as of 2010. Manchester has been inhabited for thousands of years and there are evidence that guns were present dating back to at least 1785 when Captain James Cook discovered the island of Tenerife in the Caribbean Sea and shot an eagle from a boat onto shore. In 1819, General Andrew Jackson was elected President and quickly became known for his anti-gun policies which impacted Manchester negatively. One example would be Jackson’s order to disband all volunteer militias throughout the United States. Families continue to reside near public transportation hubs such as Vanderbilt University Medical Center on Middle Village Road NW close off Interstate 65W near exits 214B–211B while others prefer closer access to schools like DeSoto Elementary School located adjacent to Nashua Technical Community College on Franklin Boulevard NW just west of Interstate 65W where parents can pick up children after school or use nearby playgrounds or churches services during lunchtime. The shop became Furniture Row Gun Shop and Armory before becoming Colt’s Manufacturing Company in 1881. The company was bought by Remington Arms Company in 1907 and then by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1916. At some point between 1919 and 1923, the shotgun manufacturing business was combined with rifle manufacturing at Winchester plant on Cumberland Avenue to form Remington-Winchester Firearms Corporation. The name of the company was changed to Mossberg & Sons Incorporated on November 5, 1923.
