The Lewisburg Rifle & Pistol Club was formed in 1876 and has been a part of the community since. The club offers shooting instruction, competitive shooting, and NRA membership. In 1916, the Lewisburg Rifle & Pistol Club became one of the first gun clubs in Tennessee to be certified by the National Rifle Association (NRA). The club has continued to offer NRA certification courses for members and their families through 2019. The Lewisburg Rifle & Pistol Club is a member-owned organization with over 100 years of history. The club offers shooting instruction, competitive Shooting, and NRA membership. The club was founded on October 20th 1876 when two men from Lewisburg met to discuss starting a rifle and pistol club in the town of Lewisburg. From that day forward, theLewisburgh Rifle & Pistol Club has been a part of the community and continues to provide support for all aspects of target shooting including education, competition, family fun, and safety awareness. In 1916, when Tennessee became an American state, the Lewisburgh Rifle & Pistol Club aspired to become one of only a few organizations certified by NRA that offered firearms training opportunities for citizens at all levels. With this goal in mind they began offering NRA certification courses for their members at various locations throughout their territory including: home schools; churches; high school classes; military service academies; etcetera. With time passing these courses grew more challenging as new technologies such as semiautomatic pistols came into play making them even more important for shooters who wanted to maintain proficiency with these firearms while also protecting themselves from potential injuries or death from accidents or misuse during practice sessions . In order continue providing these types of programs ASA also created continuing education opportunities which have allowed our members to keep up with changing technology while also teaching basic rifle usage principles so that each individual can proficiently shoot safely using any modern caliber handgun regardless his/her skilllevel As we move into 2020 we are proud to continue serving our community by hosting several events such as traphooting championships (held every other year), skeet season open house(held every other year), muzzleloading championships(held every other year), deer season open House(held every other year)and annual pinewood derby event hosted at local fairgrounds which attracts hundreds of participants from surrounding counties each fall! Lewisburg is a town in Sevier County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. It is the seat of Sevier County and home to the Lewisburg Municipal Airport. The town was founded by circuit rider David Humphreys in 1827 as a trading post on the Little Tennessee River. It grew rapidly during the antebellum period due to its location on the main route between Nashville and Memphis. In 1845, Humphreys donated land for a courthouse and school district, which became known as Lewisburg Township. The first school opened in 1850; it was replaced by the current Lewisburg Municipal Airport in 1955. Lee surrendered at Appomattox Court House to Union General Ulysses S. Grant; Lewisburg was one of many towns within Confederate territory to be burned by Union troops during the battle for Mobile Bay. Today, Lewisburg retains much of its original character; it has a mix of antique shops and modern businesses including several banks and retail stores. The downtown district contains sixhistoric buildings dating from before 1830: the Methodist church (c 1836), schoolhouse (1839), courthouse (1856), jail (1861), fire station (1911), and Masonic temple (1915).Lewisburg also includes two active military installations: NAS Memphis-based Naval Air Station Whiting Field and US Army War College Fort Campbell—both located on rural land east of town on I-240 about 10 miles north of Nashville

In 1814, the county seat was moved from Lewisburg to nearby Decatur because of a population growth problem. Lewisburg continued to grow until it had over 1,000 residents by 1860. The town's first school opened in 1836 and its first public library in 1859.In 1942, during World War II, Lewisburg became an important airbase in the Tennessee Valley Campaign. After the war ended, the town experienced rapid growth as a result of new businesses and residential subdivisions development. The population peaked at around 30,000 in 1980 but has since declined slightly due to increasing competition from larger cities within commuting distance.
