In 1925, Lebanon also had its first housing development when the Citizens Loan & Trust Company constructed seventeen homes on land donated bythe townspeople. By 1930, Lebanon had an population of seventy-eight people and five businesses. In 1933, Lebanon joined the United States as part of the Federal District of Tennessee. The following year saw the opening of Lebanon High School which became Lebanon’s second high school after Central High School in Nashville. During World War II, Beirut was home to many military personnel who served in various units stationed throughout America including service with Army Air Forces Base Lewisville and Marine Corps Base Quantico Virginia Beach. After the war ended, many of these troops returned to their home towns but Beirut continued to grow with new residents arriving until it reached its current population size in 1969 when it annexed into Clarksville
