GUNS & FIREARMS IN COMMERCE INC., also known as Gun Owners' International Association (GOIA), was created in 1934 as part of this effort. GOIA's mission is "to promote responsible handgun ownership and responsible storage by educating individuals on how best to care for their handguns." As time passed, GOIA developed into one of the most influential organizations behind firearm legislation around the world - helping shape laws governing both public access and concealed carry rights across many countries.
