Over time, many different companies have come into existence within Grant County because of their involvement in the hobby of optics including Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company which manufactured cigarettes from 1881-1933; National Radio Corporation (NBC) which built antennas from 1922-1946; RCA Victor Records which produced discs from 1931-1985; United States Steel Pipe Works Incorporated which built pipelines throughout Grant County between 1921-1967; First National Bank (FNB) who operated a bank branch located adjacent to IHOP restaurants until 1984 when they closed it down and donated all assets to the county government; The Mirror company which manufactured mirrors starting in 1916 until they closed their doors in 1966; United States Paper Products Corp./Packer’s Mill Paper Company (UPPC/PMC) who made paper products such as toilet tissue beginning in 1924 until 1967 when they merged with Kimberly Clark Corporation; Wernher von Braun’s Rocketdyne Laboratories Incorporated which manufactures engines for space vehicles beginning 1950 until 1994 when they demise due to economic problems.; Glenview Park golf course developer Harry Weisman also played an important role during this time by developing what is now known as Weisman Parkland subdivisions nearby Notch Road and Old Hickory Road south of downtown Lawrenceburg along with housing developments such as Weisman Homes., etc., etc., etc.. It really wouldn’t be accurate or complete without mentioning Dr. David Levy who is responsible for most if not all of the research done regarding lighthouses within Grant County since he has been doing it since 1978! Lawrenceburg is a small town in Johnson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 3,849 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Nashville–Davidson metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1839 by General Andrew Jackson and his family as a post office called Ironton. After the death of General Jackson's father in 1837, the town passed to his son, also Andrew JacksonJackson. In 1840, Ironton became Lawrenceburg proper and was named for General John Lawrence who had fought against Native Americans on behalf of President James K. Polk during the Mexican-American War. The community grew rapidly from its first hundred residents in 1840 to 1,500 by 1850 thanks to new construction and an influx of settlers from surrounding counties including Williamson and Davidson. By 1870, Lawrenceburg had reached 4,000 residents and boasted a hardware store, schoolhouse, Methodist church (built in 1865), grocery store (1875), hotel (1892), two churches (1892 and 1898), three stores (1900-1901), four cotton mills (1902-1905), two steamboats (1906-1907) and several businesses such as a livery stable(1908). A large number of immigrants started arriving after World War II to work on nearby farms or start their own businesses: Germans in 1949; Irishmen in 1951; Poles in 1957; Greeks in 1961; Italians in 1966; JapaneseAmericans in 1978. In 1970–71 Larry Sievers became Mayor after serving one term as alderman during which time he helped create the city's first parks department before being elected mayoralty again four years later with increased representation from within city government due to then-current Mayor Donnie McClendon's retirement effective December 31st 1971…………………………………………………………….Lawrenceburg has long been known for its butter production—the first commercial compressor station built here came online July 10th 1947 – now owned by Brenneke Bros.—and for its annual corn festival which takes place August 14th through 17th each year………..Today’s economy is based largely on agriculture but there are also significant contributions made by manufacturing companies such as Brenneke Bros., Owens Corning Inc., GEICO Insurance Company & other retailers…."
