Through their business, they continued to sell airguns until 1966 when they closed their store due to financial difficulties. In 1987, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Ladd purchased the Gun Shop from Mr. Ainsworth’s widow and continue to run it as an antique airgun dealership today).
Lawrenceburg, Tennessee is a small town in Hardin County, Tennessee. The population was 1,965 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Nashville–Murfreesboro–Ft Worth metropolitan area. Lawrenceburg is located on State Route 129 and is about 28 miles northeast of Nashville on I-75. The town was founded in 1868 by John A. Lawrence and his family as a cattle ranch. In 1890, the town became a railroad junction with the Memphis and Nashville Railroad and soon developed into a small agricultural community with several stores, churches, schools, and residences. The population had declined to 100 by 1920 but has since increased to over 1,000 residents today. The economy of Lawrenceburg has been based primarily on agriculture since its inception. Today there are several businesses in the town that provide services such as bank accounts processing and other financial services; home repairs; real estate; restaurant management; trucking services; and insurance companies. One notable event that took place in Lawrenceburg during recent history is the celebration of its centennial in 2009 which included an event including dinner at The Lodge restaurant followed by parade down Main Street celebrating local accomplishments over the century including: 3 storey school built in 1907 (now known as Appalachian Christian University), establishment of post office in 1911 (now known as First Baptist Church), incorporation of village effective date Sept 15th 1912 (now known as Mount Vernon Baptist Church), first fire department established 1913 (now known as Citizens Fire Department). One regret for many residents has been the decrease in manufacturing jobs throughout eastern Tennessee due to international Competition however this trend appears to be slowly reversing with new investments being made within Eastern Tennessee Manufacturing valleys like those found here at Lawrenceburg exemplified by construction projects such as: $10 million dollar project to expand existing FedEx distribution center here which will create 235 jobs while also adding 5 acres for future development bringing some 200 new jobs into this Economic Development Zone within just 10 years!

The town's name comes from General James Forrest's cavalry unit, which operated out of nearby Lebanon during the American Civil War. The first industries were agriculture and manufacturing; however, over time these businesses have dwindled as more efficiently-produced alternatives have emerged. Today, most residents are engaged in various types of professional or personal services: arts and culture (including music, theater and art galleries), health care (including several hospitals), education (including UTC), retail trade, service sectors such as transportation and construction. In 1901–1902 a group of local businessmen purchased land east of downtown for what would become the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga campus; today this area is known as student housing. In 1957 Lawrenceburg became one of thirty townships within Jackson County formed following an action by the Tennessee Legislature to reduce its Number One rating from "outstanding" to "mild".
Lawrenceburg was founded in 1819 on the Cumberland River by General David D. Butler, who named it for his ancestor, Lawrence of Carlisle. The town grew rapidly during the 1830s and 1840s as settlers arrived from Kentucky, Tennessee, and other parts of the south. By 1845, Lawrenceburg had a population of 1,500 people. In 1860, Confederate forces captured Lawrenceburg while fighting against the Union army; the town was renamed Richmond after Confederate General Robert E. Lee. After the war ended in 1865, Lawrenceburg slowly declined until it ceased to exist as a municipality in 1912.
