La Vergne is a small town located in Middle Tennessee, United States. The population was 2,567 at the 2010 census. La Vergne is part of the Knoxville metropolitan area. The first humans to live in what is now La Vergne were the Cherokee, who first lived there around 1725 CE. They were followed by the white settlers from Virginia in 1776 CE and by Native Americans from east Tennessee along the Cumberland River.
