In 1803, John Brown led his group of rebels against American forces at Harpers Ferry Bridge near Lexington Kentucky resulting in the deaths of six soldiers and three civilians including Brown himself before he was captured by Ulysses S Grant’s army two years later in 1864 at Appomattox Court House Virginia. What followed is known as the Gunfight at Pea Ridge where 43 Confederate soldiers died (1904) however only nine rounds were fired from Brown’s revolver which resulted in eight casualties for Grant’s forces – this event is also generally considered an incident involving shooting without consequence rather than gunfights per se

The La Vergne Pistol Company was founded in 1881 by John A. LaVergne and his brother, Hiram. The company produced a variety of pistols including the Model 1886, 1888 and 1889 rifles. In 1898, the company merged with Winchester Firearms Corporation to form Winchester-LaVergne Firearms Corporation.
La Vergne, Tennessee is a small town in Sevier County, Tennessee. The population was 1,690 at the 2010 census. La Vergne is located in the eastern part of the county and has a total area of just over square miles. The town began as a small farming community and grew rapidly during the late 1800s as cotton plantations expanded in the area. By 1910, La Vergne had a population of 2,000 and became an important transportation center for Sevier County. Today, LaVergne remains a rural community with limited retail or professional services available. The history of La Vergne begins with two men- one from Georgia and one from Alabama- who arrived in 1838 to develop what would become known as "the Valley." The men purchased land east of present day La Vergne on Robertson Creek and started to build homes. By 1860, there were over 50 homes in LaVergne and it had grown into a sizable town that served as a transportation hub for Sevier County. In 1892, LaVergne hosted its first annual fair which attracted around 100 people from surrounding counties. At its peak during World War II, LaVergnue had up to 300 residents working on various agricultural activities including raising chickens, pigs, cattle and hogs. In the 1950s and 1960s,LaVergnue experienced significant growth due to military service personnel stationed in the area; however this period also saw some decline in traffic due to new highway construction later that decade. Today,LaVergnue is home to a few businesses serving local residents such as A&P grocery store (opened 1955), 7-Eleven convenience store (opened 1988), KNKF radio station ( opened 1974) and First Baptist Church (established 1865). Despite its lack of commercial amenities or major tourist attractions - most notably Millsboro Battlefield National Military Park -LaVergnue still retains its importance within Sevier County due to its position as an important transportation hub dating back to eighteenth century times
