There has been a gun magazine in La Vergne, Tennessee for over 100 years. The first magazine in the town was called "The Rifleman" and it was published from 1868-1879. In 1881, the townspeople started "The Tennessean" which is still published today. The first rifle magazines were simply print shops where people could buy and sell firearms. They didn't have any sort of website or printed edition. From 1903-1911, there were two magazines that circulated in La Vergne - one called "The Pistolero" and the other called "The Rifleman". In 1911, the town stopped printing newspapers and all publications ceased operations on November 15th of that year. However, some gunslinger magazines continued to be printed until 1967 when they finally went out of business (the last issue being dated November 2nd). However, because these magazines are so old and have such a long history, many people still remember them and their contents. La Vergne is a small town in Hardin County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,532 at the 2010 census. La Vergne is located on the Cumberland River. It is part of the Nashville metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in LaVergne was Levi Hodes in 1827. He and his family moved to what is now LaVergne from Lebanon, Pennsylvania when he became a landowner there. Hodes laid out a square block of land near present-day Main Street and Center Road in 1829. In 1830, he married Susannah Downing and they began trading goods with settlers in nearby Lenoxville. By 1840, LaVergne had two stores and three families were living there. In 1846, Lewis Waddell platted what is now La Vergne Township on land that he had purchased from David Baird following the battle of Battle Creek Bridge over the Cumberland River at that location. Waddell named it after his father-in-law James Ladd (1793–1859), who had been killed at that battle during the American Civil War as an infantryman for General Andrew Johnson's army under Ulysses S Grant. Waddell served as mayor of LaVergne from 1850 to 1851; then became justice of the peace from 1852 to 1860; and Postmaster general from 1862 to 1865 before retiring in 1870 due to illness. He died at home on May 2, 1870 aged 76 years old.. His son John Waddell (1850–1924) also served as mayor of La Vergne between 1889 and 1893; postmaster general from 1893 until 1896; lieutenant governor of Tennessee from 1897 until 1901; state auditor 1921 until 1924; and senator 1925 until 1931 before dying at age 83 years old.. Agrarian economist George Stephenson born in Greeneville County TN on November 8th 1861 was one of America's most important pioneers during this time period working mainly as a statistician for US Geological Survey . The first self-loading pistols were developed in 1857 by Nicholas-Jacques Conte and Alfred Nobel, who named them “firearms (pistols) with manual loading”(Plessy v. Ferguson). These pistols could be fired without taking any time to reload by crushing a round into the breech and pulling it out with a grip handle. Magazine pistols would continue to be developed until they were replaced by automatic weapons such as the M1 Garand in 1903. The development of magazine guns has had many different purposes: from close quarter combat through artillery to hunting rifles and shotguns. Some examples include: .22 LR rimfire rifle cartridges that could easily be fed into muzzleloaders like Winchester Repeating Arms Company’s Model 1886; Ruger American Rifle having 7 rounds in each magazine for its 8 inch barrel models; Browning Automatic Rifle using 5 rounds per magazine for its 12 inch barrel models; Thompson submachine gun using 10 rounds per magazine for its 6-inch barrel model etc.; Heckler & Koch HK AG3 9mm Luger pistol using 10 rounds per magazine while still allowing users to fire multiple shots at once since there is no chamber indicator on these guns

La Vergne was first settled in 1811 by Andrew Johnstone and his family. The townspeople built a log cabin on the riverbank and began to trade with surrounding settlements. La Vergne grew rapidly during the 19th century due to its location, good transportation connections, and natural resources such as coal and lumber. By 1870, La Vergne had a population of 1,500 people. The Panic of 1907 caused a large decline in business activity and population in LaVergne; however, it regained some stability during World War II when many local businesses contributed to military production. After the war ended, laVergnan experienced an increase inPopulation growth due to new development within its borders; however, this has since decreased since 2000. In recent years there have been several efforts made to revive aspects of local history including enactment of a historical marker program and restoration of some historic buildings.
La Vergne was founded by John the Baptist in 1796. La Vergne was a small town at the time, but it soon became a center of cotton production and commerce. The town grew rapidly and by 1824 it had over 2,000 residents. In 1828, La Vergne became the seat of government for Knox County. The city continued to grow and in 1851 it had over 5,000 residents. On April 15, 1861, LaVergne became the first county seat of Knox County when it was moved from Chattanooga to LaVergne.
