The first firearms were invented in America around 1775. They consisted of a smooth-bore cannonball with an iron tube fitted into its muzzle and fired by means of a cocking handle. The first attempt at using oil as a propellant was made by John Fitch in 1795. This device consisted of firing two balls at once from a cannon using both hands and letting them fall back into the barrel after each shot. Unfortunately, this method resulted in too much heat being produced for the ballast and it was not until 1802 that Nicholas-Jacques Conte developed what would become known as the "Conte Rifle". It was this weapon which allowed for quickfire times on battlefields where reloading was essential. The next step forward when it comes to firearm lubrication came about through development of chromium based lubes starting in 1855 by Jens Christensen Pedersen and his brother Hans Hvidtøj Pedersen (the father of Lars Henriksen Pedersen). These lubes were designed to prevent corrosion within barrels during combustion process and were also effective at preventing metal fouling within pistons/rotors etc., which could make operating firearms difficult or impossible. Chromium based lubes also became popular because they did not corrode upon contact with water or air, making them ideal for use inside boats etc., where water & air cannot combine properly (this property also extends to salt solutions). In 1886, Alfred Nobel granted Patent No 611,867 to George Stephenson Smith who had applied for it previously under the name "Gunnar Nelson" (later changed to "George Stephenson Smith"). This patent concerned an improvement on earlier patents filed by Charles Goodyear including those concerning black powder ammunition (Patent No 5991) as well as improvements relating to Frederic Remington's birdshot rifle design (Patent No 6362). Smith's invention involved applying pressure directly onto either side of breechblock before chambering rounds thereby resulting in less loading time when compared against traditional methods such as screwloading whereby rounds are forced down the barrel under high pressure via screws rather than being loaded slowly through a breech block sequencely

La Vergne, Tennessee is a small city in Hamilton County, Tennessee. As of the 2010 census, the population was 953. La Vergne is located on the Cumberland River and has a total area of 16 square miles (40 km²). LaVergne is the third-largest community in Hamilton County after Nashville and Chattanooga. The first European to visit what is now La Vergne was John Sevier, who passed through on his way from Kentucky to find new land for Georgia colonists in 1796. He called it "Vergennes" after himself and named two nearby rivers - the Cumberland and Ohio - after himself. The town began as a farming village with only 10 residents in 1819 when Andrew Jackson's army burned down some buildings here while retreating from Knoxville during the War of 1812. In 1825, James Waddell became postmaster here and changed its name to LaVergne because he realized that no other community had that name or sounded like it anywhere else in Tennessee. Thanks to Waddell's efforts, numerous stores opened up within minutes of each other in this small town growing rapidly thanks to transportation innovations then available such as wagons pulled by horses or cows instead of carts or horse carsriages which took hours to travel long distances even today! By 1830, there were over 100 residents living here with a school, Methodist Episcopal Church and Baptistchurch both built soon afterwards! A store on Third Street served as the nucleus around which all these institutions grew together until destroyed by fire about 1930s! In 1909 another store owner named Charles Fenton bought property just east of Third Street from J.P. Morgan & Co., renaming it "Fenton's Landing." This started an era where smaller businesses could succeed side by side without fear of cannibalism!!! With big box stores starting up throughout Chattanooga at this time too sudden competition wasn't always welcomed but increasingly established merchants saw value in being able to serve multiple markets! One such business was Donahue Drug Store which operated continuously until 1973 when it went out of business due to lack of customers although remnants remain today inside former Donahue property across Market street from Walmart!) Today much like then LaVergne thrives off its unique history: From local farmers' markets run every Saturday morning down Second Street into downtown where you can buy fresh produce grown right there onsite; antique shops with more than one thousand items listed online including rare books and manuscripts; six banks with over $100 million in assets each including First National Bank; four restaurants serving breakfast/ Lunches/Dinner daily including Hardee's Restaurants next door; nine churches with services offered every day for people from all walks of life; twelve historic homes preserved & restored complete or nearly so inside their original Anson Mabry home restoration project which started happening back in 2006 & continues today adjacent to Tullahoma Museum also open everyday...the list goes on & ON!. There is something for everyone here whether you're looking for dining out at one of several fine restaurants located throughout downtown or browsing through hundreds upon thousands+ items listed online (& many still unlisted!), taking a walk outside Downtown Bluff Parkouring along 2nd Street past All Souls Unitarian Church before dinner at one of several dozen bars/restaurants near downtown OR simply relaxing inside your own home while watching tv OR reading a book etc... It really doesn't get any better than this!!!

La Vergne was founded in 1811 by John T. LaVergne and his wife, Fanny. In 1823, LaVergne erected the first permanent structure in the town—a log cabin. The town grew rapidly and by 1830 had a population of over 1,500 people. By 1865, LaVergne had become an important cotton center and a major route for transportation between the Deep South and Northern markets. The railroad arrived in LaVergne in 1892 and made it easier to move goods around the city. In 1916, La Vergne became part of Tennessee statehood.
