The school served until 1902 when it was replaced by a Methodist church which still operates today. In 1905, LaVergnen had its first movie theater which performed movies from then on until 1978 when it became an video store. In 1916, Driggs Store built a home that still stands today and is used as lavergnen's only restaurant/bar functions currently- also known as the Lodge at Laurel Hills since 1977 In 1922, Hardin County installed its first electric lights and water systems within the town limits; this event marked one of the earliest times electricity was available to residents of Hardin County. Additionally, during World War II, many businesses located within lavergnen contributed their time and services to help with military efforts including manufacturing munitions such as planes and tanks As technology advanced throughout the 1970s- 1980s (eastern Bloc revolution), so did lavergnen's economy with numerous new businesses opening up around town including computer stores (Cascade Computers), health food stores (Greenspun Health Cafe), software developers (Micro Focus Software) as well as several fashion boutiques including Journeys Boutique & Clothing Store Lavergnen has seen steady growth over recent decades culminating in 2000 when it reached 2,000 residents with plans for even more growth over coming years

La Vergne is a small town in Middle Tennessee, United States. The population was 5,366 at the 2010 census. It has been part of the Tullahoma Metropolitan Statistical Area since 1997. La Vergne is located on the Cumberland River and is about 25 miles east of Nashville. The first European to visit La Vergne was Captain James Cook in 1792 while exploring what is now known as Canada. He named it "Vergennes" after his French friend, Marquis de Lafayette. La Vergne was founded by Nicholas Vail in 1810 as a trading post on the Cumberland River between Lebanon and Chattanooga. In 1816, John Sevier built a sawmill here which became one of the largest in Tennessee before it closed its doors in 1828 due to financial difficulties. In 1827, General Andrew Jackson moved his headquarters from Huntsville to La Vergne where he began preparations for his campaign against Mexico City during the Mexican-American War that followed President James K. Polk's decision to annex Texas into the United States In 1829, Vail reopened his mill which became one of many important buildings in LaVergne during this time period including an opera house and schoolhouse which still stand today In 1840, John Sevier's son Elijah founded what would become known as Vanderbilt University here in LaVergne The town also became home to two state penitentiaries: Alcorn State Prison (now Eastern Kentucky University) and Menard Correctional Facility (now Walnut Hill Hospital). During World War II, Camp Sherman training camps were located here including Fort Campbell – now Fort Chestnut – once home to 3rd Infantry Division soldiers barracks and nowoperating as a museum open to the public On 9/11/2001 local resident Don Armstrong reported seeing Flight 93 high over Knoxville when it crashed intothe Pentagon killing all 8 passengers and crew
