Moore also donated land for what is now the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga campus; this donation has been used to support many cultural programs within the city today including the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra and Oxford University's Anderson School of Music. TheMoore family descendants still live in Johnson City and are involved with many aspects of its community life including serving on its board of directors as well as being honorary residentships to several local organizations such as the Chamber of Commerce and Volunteers for Community Service (VCS). Johnson City was hit hard during World War II with a significant loss of jobs due to production at nearby aluminum plants which were destroyed or converted into concentration camps like Buchenwald concentration camp near Frankfurt am Main, Germany; however, over time it rebuilt its economy through various businesses such as manufacturing lumber, automobiles and other goods exported back home by Steelard Industries which built an auto plant there after World War II; today Steelard Industries is one of Johnson City's main employers with operations ranging from sheet metal fabrication to engineering services focused around water treatment plants across North America In recent years there have been some positive changes taking place in the city including: increased development around US-131 northbound exit providing more access to shopping malls located east of downtown along I-30 while also adding more housing developments both downtown and away from freeway entrances making it easier for people who may want to live closer to work but don't have enough money for an apartment complex or villa Johnson City traces its roots back over 350 years ago when General John C.Moore founded what would become known as "the old capital" here in 1859 - only four miles south of where he currently stands!
