Johnson City, Tennessee is a small town located in the Middle Tennessee region of the United States. The population was 3,711 at the 2010 census. Johnson City is part of the Jackson, TN-MS-AL Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is home to Towering Rock Cemetery and also to Johnson City State Fairgrounds which are used for agricultural and other events. The first settler in Johnson City was John Crouch who landed on what is now the corner of Third Street and Elm Street in 1802. He was followed by his brother Washington Crouch and their families in 1803. By 1810, there were 10 settlers living in Johnson City. This growth continued until 1825 when it declined because of political unrest caused by land acquisition by General Andrew Jackson during his presidential campaign that year. In 1865, much of what is now Johnson City was burned by Union troops as they fought a Battle of Chattanooga over control of that city's water supply system. The town returned to its prior status within a few years with new development beginning on Elm Street east of Third Street. In 1886, sugarcane became an important economic crop here and so did cotton; both crops continue to be important today although cotton has become less common due to pests and disease). Early residents had deep roots into their culture due to lack of transportation options (the only way into town then was by horse or buggy) so many features still remain from those days such as Confederate battle flags flown from homes or businesses throughout the area today (although some have been taken down). The current incarnation of Johnson City began taking form about 1925 when Fenton Hardin purchased 1/4 acre (0.27 km2) south of downtown for $850 ($ per acre at that time). Hardin built what became known as "The White House", which housed his grocery store, service station, hotel, schoolhouse and other related buildings until it burned down in 1961 following a lightning strike while under construction! Today only memories remain: A large stone marker near where the building once stood marks its location; however visitors are not allowed inside due to fire code restrictions! Johnson City experienced significant growth between 1945-1951 when almost 150 families moved into areas northof downtown including Addison Avenue SW., founded by Mrs Hilda Pugh MCMURRAY which remains one of our most notable streets today; just east off Third Ave., Mrs Alfred WOODRUFF erected her largest home yet with six bedrooms/ five bathrooms incorporating an airplane hangar providing indoor air conditioning for all! Overwhelming demand resulting in several more properties being erected soon after before Mrs Woodruff sold her holdings just west off Market Square – this included two additional airplane hangars plus twelve residences overlooking downtown (one dating back to 1915!). This flurry activity initially resulted in increased traffic congestion along Market Square but ultimately created more jobs than alternative methods such as shopping around or driving out each day! With increasing access through Interstate 65 via Exit 159 everyone could now get here regardless if they lived nearby or not; furthermore this made commuting easier since most people worked outside the city limits rather than commuting all week long like previous generations had done originally! Although some aspects have changed over time – for example zoning regulations – overall things have remained relatively stable since then especially given how fast technology hastransformated our lives!!

Johnson City is a small town in Hardin County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,590 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Johnson City Metropolitan Statistical Area. Johnson City was founded in 1876 by John Gentry and his family as a post office on the site of an abandoned Indian trading post. The Gentry name comes from the Virginia hamlet of Goshen where John Gentry had been born in 1794. He moved to Johnson City in 1876 when he purchased land near what is now downtown for $1 per acre (less than one dollar per square foot). The first store opened in 1877 and soon there were two other stores, one mercantile and one general store. In 1880, John Hines donated a block of land east of downtown for a public square which became known as "Hines Park". This marks the beginning of Johnson City's city government. In 1906, Jones Store added its building to the square and it remains today as the only remaining commercial structure on the original square. In 1916, after World War I ended, Hardin County voted to secede from Tennessee and become an independent state; Johnson City remained within Hardin County until 1921 when it joined the new county seat of Wilsonville proper as part of that county's reformation following prohibition Raids against speakeasies throughout Tennessee during that time period. It wasn't until 1949 that Johnson City incorporated as a village under a charter granted by then-Governor Frank Crippen because no other towns within Hardin County had done so yet (the charter offered tax breaks if incorporation was accepted). That same year saw construction begin on what would eventually become Mayor Orval Faison's house which still stands today at 421 Main Street (just south of present day State Route 191) - home to both Mayor Faison's office and municipal courts until recently when they moved into larger facility off US HWY 21 just north of town limits). As with most things associated with early Jacksonvillian culture - such as music styles picked up by later generations - some say this date may also be significant due to alcohol being legal in Tennessee at that time! Mayor Faison retired from politics effective December 31st 2009 and has since donated his home/office complex adjacent thereto (along SR 191) to local school district #2 for use as classrooms/nerd towers deep inside their buildings providing not only educational opportunities for students but also hosting awesome summer programming events etc.) including their annual 4th OF JULY festival! Some closure has occurred over recent years due to extensive damage caused by severe weather conditions quite often impacting much or all aspects of Hardin County including flooding heretofore unmatched anywhere else within our borders let alone outside contiguous USA!!! Now we enjoy peaceful quiet once again!!!
