The Hendersonville Pistol and Rifle Club was founded in 1892 by Enoch Pratt. The club met at the old post office on the corner of Main and Elm Streets. In 1914, the club moved to its current location on Green Street. The club’s first shooting galleries were located in a basement on Elm Street. The first pistol range was located on Avenue A near Park Road. The second range was located on Bloomfield Drive in Hendersonville. Today, the club has two ranges, four pistols clubs, thirteen Trap & Archery shoots each year, and is members-owned and operated with a staff of six shooters. Lee at Stones River. From 1865 until its incorporation as a municipality in 1903, it was home to what is now known as the State Capitol Building: built between 1868 and 1871 by architect George Wirtz with plans drawn up by his mentor (and future Nashville mayor) James Hinson; moved from its original location on Court Street in downtown Nashville after becoming too large for the new building; and again moved to its current location in 1933 following damage caused during World War II bombings that destroyed much of downtown Nashville. In recent decades, Hendersonville has become one of America's fastest-growing small towns with nearly 1 million residents—most recently annexing portions of Franklin County around Murfreesboro and Johnson City—continuing a growth pattern seen throughout much of Appalachia due to strong job growth in both manufacturing and tourism sectors. Hendersonville was founded in 1819 by Captain Henderson and his family. The town grew quickly, and by 1830 it had a population of around 200 people. In the early 1800s, Hendersonville was a small community near what is now Chattanooga. It was developed as an agricultural center due to its rich soil and easy access to water. By the late 1800s, Hendersonville had become a major transportation hub for the region. goods brought in from Chattanooga and other nearby towns were unloaded on local docks, then transported through Hendersonville to marketplaces in nearby counties.
