Hendersonville is a town in Davidson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 5,056 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Davidson County and home to the Hendersonville Municipal Airport. The community was founded in 1815 by colonists from Virginia. Hendersonville was named after Henderson Hill, in what is now Charlottesville, Virginia. The first post office in Hendersonville was established on March 15, 1816. In 1824, the town became a state capital under the name of Nashville. In 1861, it became part of Confederate Tennessee during the American Civil War. After Union troops took control of Nashville in 1865, Hendersonville reverted to its original name as an independent city until it merged with Knox County in 1907 to become one of Tennessee's seventy-eight municipalities. The municipal airport served as the primary commercial airport for both cities until it closed on December 6, 1970. Today, Hendersonville retains its historical downtown district which contains several historic buildings such as the First Presbyterian Church (1815), State Capitol Building (1861), and Post Office (1816). As well as numerous businesses and restaurants that have sprung up around this thriving community over time including Hooters restaurant and Pizza Hutzona location near Interstate 65 and I-75 exits 231 & 233 respectively

Hendersonville is a town in Davidson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 2,521 at the 2010 census. It is the principal city of the Hendersonville Metropolitan Statistical Area, which has a population of 3,813 as of July 1, 2017. The first settlers in Hendersonville were Andrew Johnson and James Robertson. They founded the town on December 12, 1819 as a post office called "Heidelberg". They named it for General George Washington Henderson who had recently been elected President of the United States. In 1830, David Cranch decided to move his family from Virginia to Hendersonville and started a grocery store there. He became very successful and donated land for a courthouse and school district. In 1868 Hendersonville was made an incorporated village under an act of the Tennessee General Assembly. The name was changed to "Hendersonville" on May 17th that year by ordinance of the Mayoralty Committee under consideration by the Board of Aldermen and adopted without objection by all members present except one member who voted against it because he did not live in town at that time: J C Hennessey! In 1907 Hendersonville joined forces with Chattanooga to form what would become known as the "Great Chattanooga Union". However soon after this merger some disagreements arose between both cities about many important issues such as taxes and zoning ordinances; these disputes led to full-blown violence which ultimately resulted in both cities splitting into two separate entities once again - this time with HendersonVILLE taking control over CHATTANOOGA while HENDERSONVILLE retained control over THE DALE MANSFIELD AREA (formerly part of CHATTANOOGA). From then until its annexation by Chattanooga in 1996 much development took place within HEIDELBERG PARK boundaries only making it possible for people living within those limits to enjoy their homes & businesses without experiencing actual city government services or contact! However despite all its problems HEIDELBERG PARK always retained some degree of community spirit even during times when CITY GOVERNMENT SERVICES WERE NOT Available! For example during Katrina & Rita when most residents were left without power or water FOR THREE WEEKS THE POLICE RESPONSE WAS COOPERATIVE AND NONVIOLENT IN comparison TO WHAT OCCURRED WHEN LIGHTS OUT APPEARED OR PEOPLE JUST STOPPED MAKING CONTACT WITH AUTHORITIES!!! TODAY THERE IS SOME REAL REASON TO BELIEVE THAT HEIDELBERG PARK WAS ONE OF THE MORE STRONG TOWARDS AUTonomy AS LEFT BY THE COMMUNITY BEFORE THEY BECAME PART OFCHATTANOOGA It is said that African Americans working outside White households in cotton plantations Richland County raised enough money so they could purchase property within what is today known as downtown Hendersonvilie - thus beginning their own social fabric here which would continue long after they vacated those areas In honor of Confederate Gen Robert E Lee's birthday on April 9th 1865 local citizens erected a granite statue located near historic Court House Square facing east towards Interstate 25 just south of US 127/Tennessee State Route 5 bearin
