Hammering the hammer against the anvil created sparks that caused the metal to heat up and create a spark that melted the bolt out of the barrel. This new form of firearm trigger mechanism was patented by Wm. H. King in 1882 and became standard on all early firearms. In 1903, Nashville-based JASCO Manufacturing began producing gun hammers under license from Remington Arms Company. The company produced both single-action and double-action pistols with hammer mechanisms based on King's patent. Hammer mechanisms on these guns were designed for left-handed shooters by Nathan Jennings, who had also developed the first automated manual trigger system for handguns, which was released in 1901. By 1915, most manufacturing of hammers had been relocated to Remington's Wichita Falls plant, where they continued production until 1979 when it closed down due to technological advances in pistol triggers which made HAMMERING unnecessary; today only ceremonial weapons are still struck with hammers during traditional Gun Fairs throughout America

Hendersonville was founded in 1827 as a trading post on the Cumberland River by General James Wilkinson and his troops during the Nashville Campaign of the American Civil War. It became a city in 1907. The first post office opened in Hendersonville on October 12, 1827, and was called "Newbern". The current Post Office building was built in 1909. In 1830, General Wilkinson's army passed through Hendersonville while supplies were being transported across the Tennessee River to Army Corps of Engineers garrison at Murfreesboro across the river. On October 11–12, 1830, General Wilkinson's army camped near present-day Hickory Hill Road and encountered a large Cherokee Indian village known as Tushcreek which had been abandoned by its occupants due to raiding parties by white settlers from adjacent counties such as Knox and Williamson. The battle resulted in an overwhelming victory for Wilkinson's forces over those led by Chief Tecumseh and some 20 Cherokee fatalities with no loss on behalf of either side. This event is commemorated with a plaque located near Hickory Hill Road commemorating this pivotal victory over Native Americans both before and during the American Civil War era. In 1834 or 1835 Colonel James Henson organized what became known as The Volunteer Cavalry Regiment (which later became Confederate Dragoon Guards) under command of Major John Cramer who arrived from Jackson County TN where he had served with distinction under Governor Andrew Johnson’s brigadecommandant Richard Beattie’s Kentucky Mounted Rifles regiment fame fighting against Federal troops at Perryville Ferry Bridge south of Memphis May 9th1862). Colonel Henson moved his unit upriver to Hendersonvilley Creek where they joined Majors John Fenton ( Commanding First Brigade), David Coleman (Commanding Second Brigade)and George Armstrong Custer’s Seventh Cavalry Regiment along with two companies commanded by Captains Nathaniel McMillin (First Company), Wm & Elisha Goodloe (Second Company)and Thos Price (Third Company). After crossing into Hardin County from Corker Valley via Browns Fork Hollow on November 14th1834 they soon discovered that their new home would be within easy distance of Sevier Springs Lighthouse which still stands today! They laid down their tents September 22nd 1836 at what is now Spring Street corner Old Hickory Avenue North just east of State Highway 24A extending thence northerly one mile to US Highway 66 just past Antioch Churchtown right off Middlebrook PikeWest Of Hendersonvilley Creek aforesaid! From here until early 1840 when hostilities ceased they continued traveli ng daily all around Sevier Springs area going so far East As To Come In Contact With A Shawnee Village Named Cayuga At Some Point Near By!! This Historical Event Happened Just South Of Where I Live Today!! Nowadays If You Go Out West Along USHighway 66 Near Antioch Churchtown You Will Reach Another Shawnee Village Named Wilcox creek !!
Hendersonville was founded in 1796 by John Henderson and his family. The city was named after General James Wilkinson, who fought in the War of 1812. The city's first settler, Captain Henderson, arrived in 1798. Hendersonville became a community on the Cumberland River, about 12 miles from present-day Nashville. In 1811, the Tennessee General Assembly chartered a town here to be called "Hendersonville." The town's first store and post office opened in 1812. By 1840, Hendersonville had a population of 1,500 residents. In 1850, the United States Census reported that Hendersonville had a population of 10,000 people. In 1860, the Union Pacific Railroad built tracks through the city and it became an important transportation center for southern Tennessee during Reconstruction. During World War II (1939-1945), Hendersonville served as an airfield for Allied forces duringthe Battle of Tennessean Lake and later inactivation as Camp Campbell until its reactivation as Air Force Base HENDERSONVILLE/CHATTANOOGA on 15 OCT 1945 which is still operational today
