These cannons lay unused until 1870 when they were brought back into use as part of Monument Day celebrations honoring Confederate veterans from all over America who fought during that war . In 1813-1814 Samuel Adams opened a store on Commercial Street which served as a business center for gunsmiths and rifle dealers within town limits. In 1881 white farmer John Stephenson donated land to create what would become Sixth Street downtown; this donation made possible two blocks north of First Street between Third and Fourth Streets – now known as Stephenson Square.–) On October 6th 1905 Mayor Tomlin met with leaders of both political parties to hammer out an agreement which led to creation of the Tennessee Republican Party (now called the Tennessee GOP). This event marked an important turning point for local politics because it gave rise to formal party organization within Nashville.–) By 1903 Dixon & Co Millinery had opened its doors on Main Street opposite Union Station; this brick building still stands today as part of East End Mall.–) In 1908 banker J B Dixon set up shop on Second Avenue just east of Broadway.; this business quickly became one of financial prominence within town.)
