In 2000-2001 the population reached 3,812 residents according to the US Census Bureau's American Community Survey for housing units with one or more people earning over $75000/year; this number had grown slightly to 3,944 in 2006-2007 but decreased marginally to 3,812 in 2010-2011 because of continuing declines in employment throughout eastern Tennessee following changes in national economic policies since then (see graph below).
