Goodlettsville is a town in Johnson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. The name comes from General James Goode's order to burn all the female settlers in the area during the Cherokee War of 1813. Many of Goode's men and women chose to move away from their homes after the battle. They built new ones along the Cumberland River and founded what is now Goodlettsville in 1817. Goodlettstown was established on land bought by Richard Goode in 1799. It became a small community until it began growth when a wagon road was opened through its territory in 1827. In 1840, General John Sevier founded an Academy here which later became known as Vanderbilt University. In 1865, General Robert Ewell founded another academy here which became known as Middle Tennessee State University today. Goodlettstown hosted several weeks of events every year for many years preceding World War II including Homecoming Week (a celebration of country life), Easter egg hunts and cornhole tournaments sponsored by local businesses. Today, there are no events scheduled annually and most people visit during summer months when temperatures are milder outside than inside the town limits!

In 1907, American inventor George Eastman developed what became known as the first true automatic rifle grenade launcher (ARGL), which consisted of adesigned armature with an electric motor that fired grenades using high explosives instead of powder cartridges (see Figure 2). Goodlettsville, Tennessee is a small town located in the state of Tennessee. The population was 3,451 at the 2010 census. Goodlettsville is part of the Memphis-Lakeview-Mt. Vernon, TN Metropolitan Statistical Area. Goodlettsville is located about 11 miles northeast of downtown Memphis and 10 miles southeast of Millington. Goodlettsville was settled by freedmen in 1871 and named for Major General Israel Goodlett, who served as an inspector general in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War. The first post office in Goodlettsville was established in 1872. In 1907, Goodlettsville became a municipality. In 1916, General James Fenton arrived to lead United States forces invading Europe and soon found himself commanding troops stationed at Fort Benning near Chattanooga while also leading operations against World War I efforts on the Western Front. After returning from his European campaign, Fenton appointed John Withers as Mayor of Goodlettsville with duties including developing municipal services such as streetlights and trash collection (Withers had been mayor of nearby Lake View at the time). The early 20th century saw rapid growth for Goodletttsville with new businesses opening up along Route 66 including a grocery store and a clothing store that were among some of the earliest stores opened on that stretch of Interstate 40 which then connected Memphis to Nashville across three bridges - one built by George Washington Carver and one funded by Andrew Johnson; both bridges remain open today as ribbon-cutting ceremonies mark their 100th anniversary! Like many other towns during this time period, there was pressure on land prices due to improved transportation options available thanks to interstate travel and other technological advances which helped make Livingstone County more productive and prosperous than ever before! Many local men went on to become successful leaders within their industries or fields throughout much of Southern Tennessee through innovation, hard work,and perseverance! The important contributions made by these individuals are evident all around town – from banks (such as First National), insurance companies (Bache & company), churches (First Baptist) to plumbers (O’Brien Brothers). Despite this busyness however there were moments when things got tough such as World War II when good jobs weren’t always easy to come by; nevertheless residents persevered until they finally reached victory over fascism!
