Goodlettsville is a small town located in Davidson County, Tennessee. The original Goodlettsville Plantation was established in 1798 and was the first cotton plantation in the area. Goodlettsville Post Office was established in 1824. The current building was built in 1907 and is located on High Street. Goodlettsville has been served by the Goodlettstown School District since 1913. The town also has a local park which features a rifle range, tennis courts, playground, and baseball diamond.

Goodlettsville is a town in Marshall County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 5,518 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1837 by planter and politician James Goodlett. Goodlettsville was named for Captain John Goodlett of Virginia who had settled there in 1792. Goodlett became one of the largest landowners in Marshall County and his plantation served as the county seat from 1836 to 1840. In 1841, he donated land to the town for development and it grew rapidly from 1,000 residents to 10,000 by 1860. The town hall and courthouse were built in 1865 and 1869 respectively. A post office called Goodlettsville was established in 1839, but changed its name to Marshall on October 15, 1861. In 1870, local businessman David Hogg bought 100 acres (40 ha) of forested land east of the town limits for $10 per acre ($2 million at current prices). He developed this into what is now known as Hogg Forest Park. In 1916–17, Goodlettsville hosted the Nashville Open Air Museum which featured works by noted American artists like Edward Munch and Pablo Picasso. Goodlettsville is located at 36°3′24″N 86°47′38″W / 36.[1]27[degrees] N 86[degrees] W / 36.[1][degrees] N 106[degrees] W (36 miles [57 km]) northwest of downtown Nashville on State Highway 153 near Interstate 40 exit 155A/155B (the Old Hickory Freeway). According to the 2010 census,[2], its population was 5,518; its racial makeup according to US Census data was 94% white (non-Hispanic), 6% black or African American, 2% Native American or Alaska Native; 2% Asian; 1% Pacific Islander; 0% Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander; 3% from some other race/ethnicity; 12% two or more races
Goodlettsville was a small town in Davidson County, Tennessee until the late 1800s. It is now part of the Nashville metropolitan area. The first settler in Goodlettsville was James Goodlett, who arrived in 1792. Goodlett's father, John Goodlett, also settled in Goodlettsville. In 1819, Samuel Forbes built a log cabin on what is now Elm Street. He became one of the first farmers in the community and served as justice of the peace for many years. The town was incorporated on February 14, 1838. In 1861, Confederate General Braxton Bragg passed through Goodlettsville on his way to Chattanooga during the Battle of Stones River and ordered all men within its boundaries to leave their homes and join Confederate forces. Many people chose to stay behind and fight rather than leave their friends and families behind. By 1865, most of Goodlettvsville had deserted Union forces and been absorbed into Confederate territory
