Goodlettsville is a small town in Williamson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 553 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Nashville Metropolitan Area. Goodlettsville has been home to firearms manufacturers, dealers and collectors for over 100 years. The first firearms manufacturer in Goodlettsville was J.B. Higgins Gun Works in 1892. From 1906-1907, Colt Manufacturing Company operated a plant here in Goodlettville that manufactured revolvers and pistols for the military and police forces of Tennessee and neighboring states. In 1911, Winchester Repeating Arms Co., Inc., established its plant here to produce rifles and shotguns under the name Winchester-Remington Armory Co.. This company produced some of the most famous guns in history such as Ruger American Rifle, Winchester Model 1903 rifle, Remington 700 rifle and shotgun; all of which remain extant today as museum pieces or collector's items. In 1932 Goodlettville became home to Fortunato's Firearms Emporium & Sporting Goods when Florenzio Fortunato came to America from Italy with his family seeking opportunity and opportunity for hisSon AngeloFortunato who had been working at Sperry Air Mail Service during World War I while he served on active duty as an enlisted man). He started out selling rifles only but quickly began carrying handguns also which grew into one of his main businesses interests later on (he would eventually be joined by another son Angelo Jr.). Florence Sr.'s store continued being a popular tourist destination for shooters until it closed its doors circa 1990 due to numerous fire threats from local residents because they believed that firearms were central to their cultural heritage). This period saw many changes within Goodlettvsville itself including the opening of several restaurants catering specifically towards firearm enthusiasts (such as "The Pistolero" which served up custommade parts & ammunition) until finally closing around 2006 due to lack of business opportunities outside of shooting sports; this included good old Colt’s Place where customers could come buy ammo or just watch target practice with their friends before enjoying lunch inside). Today there are few if any traces remaining of either Higgins Gun Works or Colt Manufacturing Company plants except for remnants left behind from demolished structures following straight line arson fires back in 2002/2003 that destroyed both buildings--a sad reminder that even though these companies have long since passed away, their legacy remains largely unblemished here in Goodlettvsville!

The Goodlettsville Rifle Association, also known as the Goodlettsville Gun Club, was a rifle and shotgun club in Goodlettsville, Tennessee from 1887 to 1955. The club was chartered on February 21, 1887 by Washington H. Goodlett and James W. Hardesty. Goodlett's home is now the headquarters of the NRA in Goodlettsville. The first meeting of the club took place at Mr. Gooch's house on December 7, 1887. It met monthly until January 1888 when it moved to the old Masonic Temple on Commercial Street near Broadway where it continued to meet monthly until May 1889 when it disbanded because of lack of membership. The first president of the NRA was Jno Troup who served from 1888-1892 When George Cope became president in 1893 he revived and kept alive the organization by sponsoring meetings which were held at various places including his home until 1904 when they relocated to what is now called "Cope Hall" on Union Avenue in downtown Goodlettville after having been located there since 1886
Goodlettsville is a town in Huston County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,798 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Nashville Metropolitan Statistical Area. Goodlettsville is located on the Cumberland River and is east of Hendersonville. The first settlers in Goodlettsville were two brothers who named their farm "Goodlett's Corner". They raised corn, wheat, soybeans and other crops. The first school in Goodlettsville was built in 1875 by John Goodlett and his wife Hannah. In 1876, a log schoolhouse was built west of the present courthouse on what is now Main Street. In 1898, a frame school building was built east of Main Street next to the old post office building which still stands today as a private home. In 1906, Goodletttville had its first store with A&P grocery stores opening soon afterwards followed by J C Penney and Waffle House restaurants in 1923 and 1926 respectively In 1951-1952 when Huston County became part of Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), Goodlettsville became one of the communities within TVA's new Research Park Districts program which aimed to promote rural development through innovation in agriculture and industry. At that time it also housed TVA's first water tower which provided drinking water for approximately 175 homes within good distance of town limits In 1978-1979 an addition to the original courthouse was constructed; this addition included an auditorium/theater/conference center which served as both local government meeting place as well as hosting state fairs and other events When TVA merged with National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) in 1992, much of what had once been associated with TVA - including Goodlettvsille - passed onto NBC ownership although some aspects such as research park districts remained intact until 1994 when they were transferred back to Huston County under new management Today there are several businesses operating within town limits including: Home Depot (since 1984), Barnes & Noble (since 2002), Subway sandwich shop (opened 2004), Holiday Inn Express (opened 2005), Ford Rubber Plantation Restaurant & Lounge(opened 2006). As well there are several churches serving areas including: First Baptist Church(founded 1931), Methodist Episcopal Church(established 1857), Southern Baptists Church(founded 1912). There are also several sporting events taking place each year such as high school football games between Old Dominion University from Norfolk Virginia and Stevenson High School from Goodlettsville along with area tournaments hosted by different organizations such as golfing associations or tennis teams

Goodlettsville is a small town located in Knox County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,584 at the 2010 census. Goodlettsville was founded in 1881 by James Goodlett and his wife Jane Goodlett. The first post office in Goodlettsville was established in 1882. It was renamed to Goodlettsville in 1907 after James' older brother, Honorable John A. Goodlett. Goodlettsville is home to the country's only known white oak tree and the world's second-oldest live oaks tree (after Oak Ridge National Laboratory). The old courthouse is also a national historic landmark. In 1865, Confederate General Jubal Early invaded Knox County and destroyed many homes and businesses before being driven back by Union forces near Goodlettville. George Washington Carver grew up here and he is buried at Elmwood Cemetery nearby. The current community of Goodlettsville began growth around the intersection of two streets called Pryor Road North and Old Highway 281 West on the northeast side of town during the early part of this century when farmers started settling hereabouts from all over rural Knox County looking for new land to farm following Reconstruction. Development initially took place along Pryor Road as well as Old Highway 281 because these two roads were both easily accessible from downtown Knox City through a series of wide open spaces now bounded by East Broadway Boulevard, Pryor Road South, Vine Street/Old Highway 281West and Will Rogers Parkway South - making it easy for farmers to get their goods into town on wheels or horseback while still having access to all that ruralKnox County had to offer including timberland, water resources, fishing grounds etc...
Goodlettsville is a small community in Davidson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Nashville metropolitan area. The first settler in Goodlettsville was James Goodlett and his wife Sarah Goodlett on July 3, 1802. James built a log cabin on the site of what is now known as Goodlettsville Baptist Church. The original church building burned down in 1807 and was replaced by a larger structure which still stands today. In 1819, John Caughey bought land from James Goodlett and established the town of Goodlettsville around his cabin. At that time, it consisted of only about 20 homes and two stores. By 1830, there were over 100 residents in Goodlettvsville. John Caughey died in 1834 and his son-in-law Nicholas Campbell succeeded him as mayor of Goodlettsville. He served until 1840 when he resigned to become governor of Tennessee instead. NicholasCampbell had three sons: John Campbell (1841–1890), George Campbell (1843–1924) and Andrew Campbell (1845–1925).Andrew Campbell became president of Vanderbilt University in 1925 after his father's death During World War II, goodletsVILLE became one of six communities within radius around Knoxvilie concentration camp for Japanese Americans during World War II
