Germantown is a small town located in the state of Tennessee, about 25 miles south-southwest of Nashville. The population was 1,821 at the 2010 census. Germantown is part of the Memphis–Murfreesboro–Lincoln Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first residents of what would become Germantown were farmers who land around creek and river. By 1802, there were two settlements: one by John Sevier and his family on the Cumberland River (near present day Highway 64), and another by James Robertson on lands between the White Oak Creek to the east and Germantown Creek to the west. The first store in Germantown was built in 1809, when Andrew Jackson bought goods from suppliers near Knoxville. By 1830, there were six stores in Germantown with a total population of 2,500 people. In 1832, Samuel Morse founded a Telegraph Line from Nashville to Chattanooga that passed through Germantowing and connected with other lines at Mount Lebanon (now Lewisburg) and Dayton (nowDaytona). This led to increased trade in local goods among settlers as well as traffic on State Route 6 which ran through town center. One early business venture was building a millrace for irrigation purposes which became an important water source for many farms in area until it dried up during the GreatTennessee Flood of 1913-14. In 1861, Confederate General Robert Ewell's army moved into Tennessee from Mississippi via Union Territory after victories at First Bull Run and Antietam Ridge; most importantly this allowed them access to cotton fields north of Memphis so they could produce munitions needed for their war effort. After Union General Ulysses S Grant's victory at Battle Of Corinth Bridge in October 1865%, much of eastern Tennessee seceded from the United States; including parts of what would become Germantown including some 3rd Congressional District citizens such as Congressman Jeptha Broughton (R-TN) who had served under Sherman during his March To The sea campaign against Confederate forces east of Chattanooga; he returned home after Vicksburg was taken but lost all his property except 300 acres within central Germanton just outside downtown limits – now “Old” Downtown Germanton along High Street next to Wilson’s Drug store where Post Office began services on July 1st 1870 On November 15th 1912 Old downtown burned down becoming an inferno while most people inside managed to get out before it exploded consuming everythingBuildings adjacent courthouse also caught fire but only damaged one side then quickly blew out leaving only ashes & skeleton remains today . All those lives lost because someone forgot about gaslighting!
