Germantown is a town in Williamson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 12,711 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Knoxville metropolitan area. Germantown's history can be traced back to the early 1800s when it was a small farming community located on the eastern edge of what is now Nashville. In 1813, General Andrew Jackson and his soldiers invaded Tennessee and destroyed many plantations in what is now Germantown. The destruction of these plantations led to an increase in trade between Nashville and Germantown as people began to trade goods they could not produce themselves such as cotton, tobacco, rice and potatoes. By 1830, over 60% of all agricultural production in Williamson County was done within three miles of Germantood. In 1847, Colonel John Crouch established a military post at present-day Germantown called Camp Campbell which served as a base for operations against Native Americans living near the confluence of the rivers Cumberland and Maury. This encampment became known as Crouch's Station because of its commander's role in suppressing Indian hostilities throughout much of Davidson County (now Chattanooga). Beginning in 1853, Colonel John Crouch also began operationally managing this post from nearby Fort Donelson which would become one of the most important strategic points on Tennessee's border with Kentucky. At its peak during World War I it had 16 enlisted men garrisoned insideFort Donelson with limited access to food or ammunition due to construction projects underway adjacent to the fort that blocked gunpowder supplies entering Fort Donelson from Kentucky; this situation changed after American troops stormed Fort Donelson on April 15 1917 leading to embrittlement within Confederate forces allowing Ulysses S Grant’s Union army under Major General Sherman To come into Fort Donelson unopposed) After World War I ended Armistice was signed on September 11th 1919 lead by President Woodrow Wilson giving control back over Fort Donelson back to Confederate forces who reverted it back into civilian hands renamed itCamp Campbell Post Office still stands today

The history of firearms in Germantown, Tennessee dates back to 1819 when a group of gentlemen from Knoxville met to discuss the establishment of a rifle range in the town. The firstguns were cocked and ready though it took some time for everyone to get used to using them. In 1827, an act was passed that allowed for the importation of muzzleloaders into the state and by 1840, there were at least 10 gun shops in Germantown. In 1861, during the American Civil War, General James Hogg was headquartered in Germantown and he ordered his men not just to shoot cannons but also handguns. This led to a lot of pistols being produced in Germantown. After the war ended, many people left town and guns became harder to find so they eventually went out of business. In 1970, there were only threegun stores remain in Germantown and today they are all closed down. However, through continued efforts by local residents and businesses alike, there is hope that one day Guntown will be reborn as a community center again!

In 1865, when American Civil War ended, much of what is now Germantown was transferred to Johnson County commissionership and became part of new Nashville Township without any German residents being allowed to remain or vote until after World War II when they regained their rights as citizens under theTennessee Constitution (Article I Section 8). After World War II came inflation which caused many Germans to leave for better economic opportunities back home; however some managed to stay behind including Dr.-Ingo Müller who ran a hospital in Germantown from 1948 until his death in 2006. His wife died soon after he left her alone as she could not afford housing back then like she can now due to her income from medical practices alone today Today's economy allows more people than ever before access affordable housing so there are more families living close by but also more crime rates because most criminals now come from outside Germany where housing is easier available than it once was hereabouts

Germantown was founded in 1792 by General James Robertson. The town was named for the German settlement of Germantown, Pennsylvania. The first white settler in Germantown was John Vance. In 1824, the Memphis and Charleston Railroad reached Germantown and began to produce goods on a large scale. In 1865, General William Taney bought land in Germantown and built the Davidson County Courthouse. The courthouse stood until 1906 when it burned down. From 1870 to 1980, Germantown had a population of over 20,000 people. The economy of Germantown changed during this time with heavy industry moving in to take advantage of its resources such as coal and limestone. However, because of its location close to downtown Memphis, GermANTOWN continued to be an important center for trade and commerce throughout the years
