Gallatin is a town in Gallatin County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 2,543 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chattanooga–area Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to live in what is now Gallatin County were Cherokee Indians who hunted and fished in the area for years before European settlement began. In 1809, General Andrew Jackson ordered the relocation of all Cherokees living east of the Cumberland Mountains to new lands west of the Mountains. Most of these Cherokees had been living near Lookout Mountain on the edge of what is now Knoxville. When they were moved, many people in adjacent counties revolted against this order and fought with Jackson's forces until he conquered their land. In 1812, during Nashville's construction boom – one that spanned several decades – gallatin men built two Masonic lodges (the first being located on Third Street) and two churches (one on Fourth Street). One prohibition law led to another building boom as citizens turned to architecture and engineering to solve problems with water supply, sewage systems, transportation by wagon or horseback and even creating their own schools (eager for a chance at better wages than those available in nearby towns). By 1830, there were over 200 businesses operating in town; today only a few remain functioning including The Farmers Market which opened in 2006 and still sells fresh produce from local farms every morning outside its door! The early economy was based on agriculture with hay production accounting for most of exports; cotton became an important crop after slaves were freed from plantations throughout America following General Sherman's march through Georgia and Tennessee towards Mobile Bayou in 1865-66. The first recorded mention of ammunition was in 753 BC when Theaetetus wrote about “bullets” that could be hurled with great power by an sling or bow. From this time until medieval times ammo was either made from animal carcasses or earth or wooden pellets thrown into the air by someone with a bow or slingshot. Musketry primarily relied upon small diameter projectiles like shot and ball while artillery relied upon larger calibers like cannonballs. Cannonballs were typically composed of bronze or iron sheets that were fired at high speeds off a longbowstring to create damage equal to infantry targets up close or afar. In 9th century AD China introduced what is now known as Kangxi Huangdi Jing Ding Shou Bu Qi Jie (Green Bamboo Shot Shells), which were essentially round lead bullets dropped from a longbow into a target area; these bullets caused significant injury due to their potency/ distance rather than their weight as did traditional arrows. As technology advanced so did methods for firing weaponry; during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) new cannons called “long bombs” were developed that could shoot heavyshot shells up to 100 miles away with ease! These weapons revolutionized warfare as they allowed commanders greater control over troop deployment and firepower on battlefields across Asia! It wasn't until 1812 when Constantine I changed the name of his country Greece from Russian Rouble to Modern Greek Lira which is believed to be what eventually became known as caliber in English language Ammo terminology today... By 1888 however shell loading had become so reliable through advances in photography that ordnance experts began referring to rounds instead of caltrops duelling accidents being less likely... Gallatin is a small town in Williamson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Knoxville metropolitan area. Gallatin was founded in 1819 by Major General Andrew Jackson as a trading post on the Cumberland River. The first school in Gallatin was built in 1835 and became known as Eastern High School. In 1865, the village of Gallatin was platted and named after General James K. Polk, who had served during the American Civil War as an aide to General Ulysses S. Grant and then as Ulysses S. Grant's Secretary of State. As a result of this designation, all businesses within the limits of Gallatin were required to have their products manufactured in America or sell their products under American flags or brands. In 1916, Knoxville developer John Fenton bought land near downtown for what would become known as Gallatin Hills Golf Course; he began construction on what would be one of Knoxville's most prominent golf courses. The course opened in 1927 and has been played there ever since by professional golfers including Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Rory McIlroy among others When World War II started, many Americans decided to flee into exile because they felt that war was entailed with countries like Germany and Japan which were allies of Nazi Germany while America remained neutrality . One such individual who decided to stay behind was local resident Forrest Jarrell who organized "The True Grit" Boys Scout troop which helped maintain morale among those fleeing during World War II . Upon Forrest's death in 1945 his troop continued operations until 1949 when it merged with another troop to form "The Eagle Scouts". Held every summer since 1951 by The Boy Scouts Association (BSA), "Golf Camping USA" features over 100 miles (160 km) of hiking trails surrounding beautiful Lick Lake outside of Chattanooga
