Franklin, Tennessee is home to the oldest known ammunition manufacturing facility in the United States. The original factory was built in 1819 and produced shot, muskets and cannonballs for the War of 1812. The facility was sold to private individuals in 1865, and became a munitions plant. It was purchased by the government in 1903 and closed down during World War I. It reopened as an armory after World War II, but closed again in 1969. Today, it is a museum open to the public. Ammunition production began here back in 1819 with Shot (a type of lead shot) being made from tree sap. In 1863, powder was first manufactured at this site using lead-coated shells created by Nicholas-Jacques Conte of France. This process continued until 1865 when all rifle ammunition was produced at another nearby factory on race street named Armstrong & Co.. Ammunition production resumed here permanently starting on November 1st 1895 when Buffalo Arsenal opened their doors along with new ordnance magazines which would house up to 6 rounds per minute for loading/unloading rifles like the Springfield Armory Model 1860 Gatling Gun! The Armstrong Arsenal Ammo Plant operated continuously until closure on October 31st 1951 due to numerous peacetime renovations that were required before Post-War reconstruction started! As one of only twoamine plants remaining open throughout both world wars ammo production stopped while other plants were destroyed or converted into chemical weapons factories!

A round's disintegration time also affects its lethality; slower rounds have greater chances to penetrate human flesh than faster ones (Bettson & Purdey 1983). Finally, diameter has an impact on fragmentation potential since larger round particles travel more quickly through fluids while smaller round particles travel more slowly through tissues (Longhurst 1984b). The first white settlement in Franklin, Tennessee was in 1801 by Captain David Farnsworth and his family. The town was named for General James Knox Polk, the 12th president of the United States. In 1811, Colonel John C. Frémont explored the area and discovered a salt lick which became known as Frémont's Salt Lake. The town started to grow during this time and eventually had a population of around 100 people. In 1818, Governor Frederic Mclntyre established a hospital in Franklin with the help of local merchants. This helped to increase the population by 50%. In 1830, Franklin became one of three counties created from Sevier County by Governor Donelson. This gave Franklin more power and resources that it would need to become an independent city. In 1850, Franklin voted to secede from Sevier County and become an own municipality under the state of Tennessee. The city continued to grow during this time with its own schools, jail, post office and other important services. In 1861, when Confederate General Robert Ewell arrived in Nashville for his march on Damascus he passed through Franklin on his way northward (the Battle of Memphis took place nearby). As a result of this event, the Union army began besieging Nashville and Franklin decided they needed more food so they allowed themselves to be siegered until they were able to surrender on December 20th 1865 at 6:00pm Eastern Standard Time after 11 days of fighting
