The first post office in Franklin opened on October 1, 1817. In 1824, General James Hogg donated land to make up what is now corner of Court and High Streets in downtown Franklin. The first store in town was built on Market Street by John Green in 1827. Canals were built to bring water from nearby springs into town and Fulton County until 1872 when the Tennessee Valley Authority took over operations. In 1929, King Cotton Fields Boulevard (now Mockingbird Lane) was designated as a state highway running through downtown Franklin between High Street and State Capitol Drive. In 1951, General Electric moved its manufacturing plant from Cookeville to Franklin after being awarded a $5 million government contract for new power plants across the southern United States. That same year, First Baptist Church became home to one of America's first accredited Christian universities when it opened at 712 S Gaylord Pike (now Belknap Road). Today that church has been converted into apartments with a restaurant inside that offers Gospel music services all day long during Lent! During World War II, local businesses produced munitions for Nazi Germany while residents helped Loyalists escape during the war years; some have testified that they even did so knowing their families would be hidden if they were captured or disbanded by Axis forces. Some locals still remember those days; one man told author Jeff Cohen about how he hid his family during air raids: "I know I didn't tell them much about it because my Uncle [Edwin] might not have liked it." After Pearl Harbor Day – December 7th – 1942 when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor – many living things including chickens stopped laying eggs because everyone knew war had ended; however there were still people outside selling eggs despite no food available inside- this continued until 1946 when FDR ordered Americans stop buying eggs from countries that belligerents had bombed! By 1951 most factories had closed down along with jobs due mainly to automation but also Dust BowlDepression which destroyed fields across America leaving little economic opportunity open especially for rural areas like Polk County TN

Franklin, Tennessee is a small town located in Sevier County, Tennessee. The town was founded by James Robertson in 1827 and named for Benjamin Franklin. The original store and home of the Robertson family still stand today. In 1930, Franklin became one of the first towns to be established in Sevier County when it was annexed into the county. As a result of its incorporation into the county, Franklin grew rapidly and soon had a population of over 100 residents. The annexation also led to the development of new businesses and industries in Franklin, including a grocery store, auto mechanic shop, software company, printing press and more. In addition to its growth as an economic center, Franklin also experienced rapid growth within its community itself due to its growing population and social activities. In 1948, Franklin voted to become an official city with full voting rights within Sevier County. This designation made Franklin one of only two towns in Sevier County that could vote on local issues such as budgets and police officers. Since becoming an official city, Franklin has seen many changes both large and small. One example is the expansion of its infrastructure which has included the construction of several new roads and bridges as well as additions to its public library system. Additionally, there have been numerous expansions or renovations to existing buildings in the town such as the Holy Trinity Catholic Church which underwent a major renovation project in 2005 that added brand new interior spaces and updated features throughout the church including new stained glass windows depicting biblical scenes from Scripture according to ancient stories found inside scripture passage databases accessible online). These updates were made possible through grants from various foundations including Ford Foundation (a grant-making organization dedicated towards improving educational opportunities for low-income children), Temple Beth El Children’s Hospital (which received funding for expanded pediatric care) among others which allowed for significant upgrades inside Holy Trinity Catholic Church despite some challenges posed by budget constraints unique among religious institutions receiving grant money at this time; however similar types of projects are now being undertaken by other churches across America facing similar challenges!
