In 1899, when the original communities of Uniontown (to the north) and Springfield (to the south) merged to form Elizabethton-Springfield Township (!), Elizabethton became one of its three townships within that new township limits. In 1907–08, during an effort by village leaders to attract more businesses to their town center (" Municipal Homecoming"),ElizabethTON adopted an ordinance establishing a Business Development Committee which would promote economic development within the boundaries ofthe newly created township." "Municipal Homecoming" is an annual event held in early September which celebrates community involvement in local government by giving residents an opportunity to meet their elected officials and discuss issues facing their municipality

These sights became very popular among law enforcement officers and hunting enthusiasts because they allowed efficient target engagement at long ranges without having to worry about battery life or rangefinding difficulties
