East Ridge is a town in and the county seat of East Tennessee County, Tennessee. The population was 2,912 at the 2010 census. In 1814, General Andrew Jackson advanced through these same routes during his campaign againstKY state politicians who opposed his army's invasion ofTennessee In 1861, Confederate forces under General Robert Ewell attacked Union forces under Ulysses S Grant at Lookout Mountain near Damascus Junction while Union troops were moving towards Chattanooga to help besieged Atlanta. After two days of battle, Confederate forces emerged victorious and took control of much of eastern Tennessee including East Ridge which surrendered without resistance on April 12th 1861 After this event, many people fromEast Ridge relocated to central Tennessee where opportunities for employment were available . For many years after Reconstruction ended in 1865 Voting Rights Act passed which allowed black people living south of Mason Dixon line voting regardless of whether they lived inside or outside Shelby County Today there are few businesses open past 10am so shops are closed then you can go home

East Ridge is named after the ridge that runs along the eastern edge of the town and forms its boundary with West Ridge to the north and east. The first European to reach East Ridge was Captain James Cook in 1779 when he sailed past it on his way from England to Asia. Cook's exploration of what would later be called America began in this area and led him finally to Charlestown, Rhode Island in 1783. There are several claims to have been first in America: George Rogers Clark claimed land near Clarksville on July 4, 1775; John Adams claimed land along the Ocmulgee River on November 3, 1776; and Richard Stockton claimed land near present-day Knoxville on December 12, 1777. In 1801–1802 Orson Welles made two short visits to East Ridge before sailing for America aboard HMS Beagle off Cape Horn. He had heard about an American gold rush going on in California and wanted to see it for himself before making any decisions about whether or not to participate in it. Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto passed through East Ridge during his ill-fated attempt upriver from Florida some years later and may have been responsible for creating what is now known as Beaverdam Creek (or Spanish Wells Creek) which flows through town northeast of Main Street into Beaverdam Fork Park just outside of town limits. A plaque marking this event can be found at nearby Spanish Wells Dam where Hernando de Soto stopped while visiting Knox County during his long journey downriver from Pensacola Bay across North Mexico back into Spain around 1541–1543 CE). French fur traders also passed through here early on their trips upriver from Saint Petersburg/Tampa Bay via Mobile Bayou (now Chilton County) before reaching Illinois circa 1669 CE; they called this stretch of river la Riviere des Anglais meaning 'the EnglishRiver'. Ibn Battuta visited Eastridge sometime between 1295 and 1304 CE during his famous routefinding mission across central Eurasia – one possible explanation for why there are so few mentions ofEastridge by Europeans until very late medieval times!
