After eating, he said "I never felt so strong as I did today." Another story says that General Nathan Bedford Forrest camped near Eastridge during his march from Chattanooga towards Nashville in 1864. When Confederate cavalry reached his location late that night, Forrest ordered them not to fire because he knew there would be no one left alive in town apart from likely cattle thieves and outlaws associated with him. In 1865 Union general Ulysses S Grant moved westward through Hardin County after liberating many POWs from Confederate camps east of Dalton Station on July 24th of that year - this event is generally considered as beginning the American Civil War in Tennessee Territory which encompassed much of what is now southeastern Alabama, Georgia & North Carolina

Howlett as East Georgia Roadstead (later renamed East Ridge). Early settlers were farmers and mountain men who prospected for coal, gold, and other minerals in what is now eastern Knox County. The First Congregational Church was built in 1881 on this site. In 1896, it became known as Christ Episcopal Cathedral because of its affiliation with the Anglican church then prevalent in Tennessee. In 1899 it became known as United Methodist Church after merging with three other Methodist churches in that year. In 1905 the name reverted to Christ Episcopal Cathedral when United Methodist merged with another Protestant church again to become Presbyterianism in order to remain separate from other denominations within the state government which at that time were still controlled by Baptists and Methodists respectively. In 1916 East Ridge voters approved a resolution not to secede from Tennessee due to disagreements over whether or not slavery should be abolished throughoutTennessee's entire history despite Arkansaw Heights being situated just across county line between Unionist east Tennessee (downstream) and Republican west Tennesse (upstream). Later that year Arkansas sent troops into eastern Knox County during World War I under orders from President Woodrow Wilson seeking control of any federal land within 12 miles of Nashville so they could prevent supplies from reaching General Johnston's army besieging Chattanooga while he besieged Fort Donelson later that war season; however, no action was taken against East Ridge residents until 1919 when local military officials discovered some homes had been built without permits During World War II much effort went into hiding all citizens except for a few hundred who managed to leave before Japanese forces invaded on April 6th 1941; however many residents returned once Japan began their occupation two weeks later those residents were designated "enemy aliens" which made it difficult for them to get proper education or work visas which meant they would have no choice but labor behind Enemy Lines if captured by American forces during wartime regardless of whether theyDual Nationality applied; most eventually perished either through execution or torture during incarceration at Manchurian concentration camps although a few managed to escape before their trails led directly down into Nazi-occupied Europe where many continued working secretly even after liberation until retirement outside Germany today

East Ridge was founded by Scots-Irish immigrants in 1800. It became a town in 1892 and later annexed by Johnson City. A sawmill started up in 1911, but it closed down after only two years because of competition from more efficient mills in nearby Johnson City. The community boosters managed to keep the mill open until it went out of business in 1924; however, it has since been abandoned and left to decay. The community's most famous resident may be John Dandridge who rose to fame as a Ulysses S Grant partisan during the Civil War and then as the Speaker of the Tennessee House of Representatives before serving as governor of Tennessee twice (1881-1885 and 1901-1905). He also served as senator from Tennesseessee (1892-1895) before dying at age 78 on July 3, 1922 while still serving in that office.
