After the war ended, many veterans returned to Eastridge and started businesses such as grocery stores and restaurants. Today, East ridge is still home to a number of these businesses and also features several cultural attractions including The Arts District which contains several art galleries and theaters as well as a variety of shopping options. One popular attraction withinEast ridge are its annual Oktoberfest events which take place on October 6th each year since 1907. Other major events include Christmas Eve services at St Nicholas Parish Church (founded 1847), Valentine's Day services at First Baptist Church (established 1876), Fourth Of July fireworks races at nearby Mount Olivet Cemetery (opened 1912), rodeo finals at Summit Park racetrack (opened 1935) or simply called "Rodeo Days". Although most residents primarily rely on agriculture for their income - there are several local businesses that cater specifically to outdoor enthusiasts such as ATVs dealerships - there are also numerous parks located within easy reach including Battlefield Park Historic Site (a Battlefield National Historical Park), Hillcrest Recreation Area with six baseball diamonds/tennis courts/fishing ponds/spaces for swimming etc., West End Golf Course & Tennis Club (located adjacent to Highland Elementary School) or even just minutes away across I-65 from Pritchett's BBQ restaurant!
