When war broke out with Mexico, these men volunteered to join General James Robertson's forces and fought at Buena Vista Creek against Mexican forces under Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna on October 12, 1818. Once all American troops had left for home following Buena Vista Creek, Robertson left his command post at Fort George and withdrew his force back downriver to Dyerburg for repairs and supplies. In 1819, John Wesley Hardin settled in what would become Dyersburg after finding land east of Chattanooga through purchases from Native Americans during Indian Removal proceedings led by General Andrew Jackson. Hardin became an early settler in what would become one of America's most heavily populated regions – he even built a cabin that still stands today on Courthouse Square downtown! In 1830–31 hardin organized into two Granger villages which later merged to form the current village of Dyersburg (named after him) when both settlements adjoinedKnoxville proper. Over time many other families followed suit until there were over 350 residents living within one mile (1 km) of downtown Dyersberg

The standard variant has three circles located near the rearstrap where the cocking hammer will rest once fired;demonstraionvariants have only two circles located near the rearstrap but also feature an additional circle located near where the slide rests when being pulled back from fire mode.
