Dickson, Tennessee is a small town located in the state of Tennessee. It was founded in 1871 by John Dickson and it became an incorporated municipality in 1903. The population of Dickson was 2,564 as of the 2010 census. In 1916, J.P. Morgan donated land to build a golfcourse in honor of his father-in-law, James Purdy. When the course opened, it was one of the most prestigious courses in the United States because it had been designed by Englishman Donald Trump and American Greg Norman. Dickson also has a history with scopes dating back to 1892 when William Hickory bought two telescopes from Nicholas-Jacques Conte for $2,000. In 1948, Dick Ebersole began manufacturing Schmidt binoculars here at his factory which continues to this day as one of the largest telescope manufacturers in America. Dickson, Tennessee is a small town in the Appalachian Mountains of Tennessee. It is located in Marshall County, east of Nashville and west of Chattanooga. The population was 9,717 at the 2010 census. The community was named for General David Dickson, who fought in the Mexican-American War and then became a U.S. senator from Tennessee. Dickson's plantation was near present-day Dickson. The townsite began as a log cabin built by Captain John Witherspoon on July 10, 1819. In 1824, the first post office was established here with Witherspoon as its first chairman. In 1851, Dickson saw his first industrial development when two brothers founded the foundry that produced nails and other metal products for local marketplaces and other businesses in nearby Chattanooga and Uniontown. By 1865, the industry had grown to include manufacturing of locomotives and cars for the railroadroads around Knoxville; this led to growth of downtown Dickson into one of Knoxville's most significant commercial areas during that time period During World War II, many citizens took part in military service or worked on munitions plants throughout their communities because they lacked alternative sources of income after defeat at war's end Dickson also has a strong agricultural sector which includes livestock production (farms such as Angus beef), processed food production (milkshakes etc.), renewable energy generation (hydropower), and homebuilding materials including bricks made from recycled building materials

In 1902, Dickson had its own school District #2 which included all of Knox County except for downtown and rural areas to the south and east. The original courthouse building still stands on Railroad Avenue near Central High School, serving as a museum today. Dickson saw some heavy fighting during World War II when the war began there on April 6th 1942 when Japanese forces bombed Pearl Harbor and started an international conflict that would last for over two decades In 1957, Dickson became one of six towns located within McNairy County that formed the newly created Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) of Nashville-Davidson-Murfreesboro with a population of 1 million people In 1971, Jock Mahoney opened his restaurant "The Ritz" which became known throughout the community as "The Hooters". This led to many residents forming their own businesses such as restaurants and gift stores in what is now called "the nightlife district". In 1984, another restaurateur named Bobby Flay opened his flagship steakhouse called Bubba's BBQ & Grill in what is now known as "the foodcourt district". From here developers built several high end commercial properties including Applebee's International Headquarters Park Place which has become home to numerous high-end retailers including Macy's department store According to Forbes Magazine’s list of America’s wealthiest counties for 2018 assets worth $1 trillion are located within McNairy County including much of downtown Chattanooga but also much suburban growth around Rutherfordton including much employment speech from Nissan Stadium to Pritchett Federal Plaza
