Laser sights were first introduced to the American public in the early 1960s by John L. Monell, a weapons scientist at General Dynamics Research Laboratory in Boston, Massachusetts. In an article he published in "The Journal of the American Rifle Association" in 1961, Monell described a new type of laser sight that used light waves rather than electricity to track moving objects. The patent for this design was filed by Monell and his colleague Edwin R. Hawksey with the United States Patent and Trademark Office on December 12, 1961. Laser sights became extremely popular during the Vietnam War because they allowed infantry soldiers to engage targets with greater accuracy than conventional artillery units could due to their increased range and target engagement ability. Some early examples of laser-based sights include the AN/ARN-5B Night Vision Scope (NV scope), which was fielded aboard USS Pembroke (PGY-4) in 1971; and the FN MAGS system developed by Hughes Aircraft Company for US Marine Corps use during Operation Desert Storm in 1991. After years of development and deployment, Laser Infantry Support Weapons (LISW) were finally fielded by Israel's army as part of its "Iron Dome" missile defense program on November 9, 2009. Today, laser sights are still widely used throughout various military forces around the world including law enforcement agencies, armored units, Air Force Special Operations Forces and specialty warfare teams worldwide. While there is no single answer as to why lasers continue to be so successful when other technologies have failed or been abandoned over time, one common reason may be that lasers are more durable than other types of technology and can keep working even when subjected to high levels of stress or abuse such as being dropped from high altitudes or being submerged in water for prolonged periods of time

Finally, because lasers emit energy in short bursts rather than continuous waves like eye rays do, they provide better target acquisition rates - often able to hit targets within 1 second per shot with some models available as fast as 2 seconds per shot!

The first settler in Dickson was John Dickson who arrived in 1827. He and his wife were the parents of James Dickson and Cynthia Dickson, both of whom became early settlers in what would become Dickson. In 1841, Daniel Boone passed through Hardin County on his way from Kentucky to find new land for the Kentucky colonizers. After stopping at Mr. Dixon's house on Mayflower Street in present-day downtown Dickson, Boone made a map of his new discoveries which he gave to Mr. Dixon as a gift and also left behind some logs that still stand today near Cemetery Drive and Clarksville Road (now I-20). The date of this log printing event has been incorrectly guessed as July 4th many times over the years but it actually occurred on June 12th according to local history books!
