Dickson was founded in 1868 by John Dickson and named after him. In 1903, the post office moved from Nashville to Dickson and remained there until it was discontinued in 1967. Dickson, Tennessee is a small town in Hardin County, Tennessee. The population was 1,953 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Knoxville Metropolitan Statistical Area.
