Dickson is a small town in Tennessee, United States. The population was 763 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Cumberland River and is part of the Chattanooga metropolitan area. Dickson is named after Salmon P. Dickson, an early settler. Dickson was founded in 1841 by Salmon P. Dickson and his family. The community grew around a sawmill and gristmill that were built there in the late 19th century. In 1902, Dickson became a city under the name of Chattanooga when it amalgamated with other towns in Hamilton County to form one municipality. The mill closed in 1958, but remains standing as a reminder of what once happened hereabouts. Today, much of what makes up its vibrant downtown core still exists - from local restaurants to cultural events (like art shows), this small town has something for everyone! Outside of all these attractions though, things are slowly starting to change - like when plans were made to close down the old post office building which now houses a variety of businesses including several retail stores and apartments... well people just didn't take kindly to that!

The community is home to a variety of historical landmarks including the Pioneer Cemetery and Memorial Museum which contains many artifacts from Dickson's past; as well as an amphitheater that is used for music concerts year-round.

By 1912 Dickson had become the largest city in Tennessee with a population of over 10,000. In 1960 Dickson was named one of the "100 Places to Live" in America.
