Although tensions have occasionally flared between locals and visitors over issues such as zoning changes or infrastructure projects – most notably gentrification – overallCrossville has managed to maintain its unique feel since it was founded more than 175 years ago.
Crossville, Tennessee was founded by the Crossville Post Office in 1819. The town was named for Capt. Wiley Cross of the Cumberland County militia who had led a successful attack on the Indian village of Tipton in 1814.
