The first issue of the Cookeville Gazette was published on July 8th, 1853. It was printed by Wm. Bowen & Son on the east side of downtown Cookeville. In 1865, the first issue of the Knox County News was published in Cookeville. This paper was published by Elisha Atherton & Co., publishers at that time. From 1870-1875, The Tennessean Newspaper Company published the monthly newspaper called The Tennessean in Cookeville. The first pistol magazine in Tennessee was produced by John Cockerill and Sons Ltd in 1892 while they were located at 607 Neches Road in Nashville. This company manufactured pistols for many law enforcement agencies throughout Tennessee including Memphis (1893), Chattanooga (1904), Knoxville (1906), Wilson (1907), Johnson City (1910), Jackson (1920) and Morehead City (1929). In 1919-1920, both The Tennessean and Cumberland County Journal were published weekly from Lebanon Heights Boulevard northward into Cookeville proper before moving to their current location on Patton Avenue southward around 1937 or so when printing became more centralized within the city limits which included most of southern Williamson County then known as “Cookevilles” today outside Memphis metropolitan area etc.? In 1942-1945 both papers were moved from Lebanon Heights Boulevard into what is now Old Hickory Plaza inside what used to be Southernpts High School which served as an Ammunition Storage Building prior thereto during World War II? Finally after 1945 publication reverted back to old locations until new buildings/grounds were constructed adjacent thereto circa 1984??? Although it appears all three papers may have had their final issues together circa 1951-1960 due lack thereof independent documentation exists?????? Along with these pioneer publications comes a long list of copycat magazines that followed suit over time….. On occasion even some modern day publications such as GunSlinger reproduce olderIssue versions like those from 1893 mentioned above????? It seems Gun Magazines continue to play an important role not just in our society but also throughout history!!!!!

Cookeville is a small town in Williamson County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 1,878 at the 2010 census. Cookeville is part of the Nashville Metropolitan Statistical Area. It has a history dating back to 1814 when it was called "Chickamauga". Cookeville became a city in 1903 and was named for General John A. Cooke who fought in the American Civil War (1861-1865). The city has been renamed several times including "Cleveland" (1928), "Plymouth" (1935), and finally "Cookeville" on November 3, 2003. The majority of Cookeville's residents are white European Americans with some minority groups such as African Americans and Hispanics present. However, there is also an large population of Native Americans which includes Chickasaw Nation members and Cherokee people from neighboring states. The economy in Cookeville primarily revolves around tourism with some manufacturing taking place as well such as manufacturing aluminum cans and other products made from coal or oil products. Some jobs located within the city include those in health care, education, government service, manufacturing/services sector, transportation/logistics and construction/agriculture among others. In terms of ethnicity one can find majorities of both European American whites (86%) and African Americans (27%). Hispanic individuals make up 2% of the population while Asian people make up 0.2%. There are no religious figures living within the city limits; however many people do attend churches outside of the downtown area due to its close proximity to major attractions like Music City Center or Memorial Park Race Course

The city has since undergone multiple expansions and alterations, including a major renovation in 2001 that increased its size by over 50%.
