His body was brought back to Cove City where he was buried next to his wife Clara Kirkland at Oak Hill Cemetery before he eventually became nationally known as an hero due to his military service. In 1948, President Harry S Truman visited Cove City on vacation and donated $10 million for technology development in Tennessee within five years which helped spur economic growth in the city throughout that decade along with other initiatives such as creating more than 1,000 jobs during that time period alone across several industries including engineering/manufacturing/healthcare/ Telecommunications In 2003-2004 Sullivan's Department Store went out of business due to overcharges by its owners on sales items such as cigarettes which contributed significantly to their bankruptcy filings On October 12th 2006 Hurricane Ivan made landfall near Gulfport Mississippi causing flash flooding that swept through parts ofAlabamaandTennessee
