Ammunition history in Cookeville, Tennessee begins with the arrival of gunpowder in the region in 1795. The first gunfire in what is now Cookeville was a musket shot fired by James Robertson while he and his militia were besieging Knox County during the French and Indian War. After France's defeat at the Battle of Fallen Timbers, General Andrew Johnson ordered all European forces to disarm and return home. This led to an arms race between Great Britain and France for control over this new source of ammunition. In 1801, United States President George Washington issued regulations that banned importation of any kind of muzzleloading artillery from Europe. This ban halted production at many arsenals around the country, including those in Cookeville. In 1802, Captain John Coffee became captain of Company K of Knox County Militia under General James Robertson. Coffee was known as a skilled Engineer, and he quickly began working on improving cannonball bullets for use with cannons. In 1807, coffee built a cannonball factory near where he now resides (now called Cooksville Village). Between 1808-1810 coffee produced 100% lead balls for use with cannons. His factory continued to produce these projectiles until it burned down in 1814 due to a fire caused by Confederate troops retreating from battle during the Civil War. After the war ended, part of The Union army retreated through Tennessee into Kentucky where they encountered Confederate forces marching towards Nashville; these troops opened fire on Union troops causing great damage and casualties within minutes; thereafter Confederate forces abandoned their march eastwards instead turning north towards Nashville which put them within striking distance of The Union capital city should they have reached it had not General Robert Ewell’s army been able to block them off just south of town; however upon reaching Nashville Ewell ordered his men back to Corinth duelling with Federal units taking heavy losses both ways resulting in about 3500 dead and wounded among both sides combined making it one of America’s bloodiest uprisings ever – another victory for “The Rebel Lieutenant general” Nathan Bedford Forrest who would go on to become America’s most successful military strategist after victories against Ulysses S Grant at Chattanooga (1864), Vicksburg (1865), First Bull Run (1871) and Atlanta (1912). With cotton becoming increasingly valuable as a currency item following Mexican independence from Spain in 1821, Tennessee began importing munitions from abroad more frequently than ever before; this increased demand also led to increased production at Coffee's Cannon Ball Factory beginning around 1830 which continued until 1840 when handmade munitions stopped being made altogether because technology had advanced enough for large-scale manufacturing operations without reliance on handcrafted products or slave laborajt

This invention allowed shooters to take down larger prey much easier than before. In 1853, another Dutchman named Jan Steen invented a type of ammo called birdshot which is still used today on various hunting occasions around the world!
